Inviting co-workers

Original post by Pupida2011

I have been working at the same place for 2 1/2 years but was only working 2 days/week and just began working full-time in August. My wedding is in June. I am not sure about whether to invite my co-workers to the wedding. Def not inviting them to the shower. There are about 5 people I am considering inviting and would have to leave others that I am not close with out. Should I just not invite any of them? How do you feel about attending co-workers weddings? Are you happy about the invite or feel it is an extra expense and burden?

I have about 5 people I am inviting from work. I work in an office with about 15-20 people.. not way I can invite everyone.. if they aren't married they aren't getting a guest either.. they know each other so I don't feel bad... I think they are flattered they are invited.. i told them they better be quiet about them...
if you think there are others who might get mad.,. simply pull them over to the side and let them know you wanted to but couldn;t because it was getting out of hand.

I plan on inviting a few co-workers from my old office because we still talk and see each other frequently, but really can't see myself inviting anyone from my current office b/c to be honest, I really don't like any of them lol

I will not be inviting anyone from my current job other then one person who had invited me last month to his.

I learned from his experience its not worth the time effort or respect. He invited our main boss, his manager and another coworker and all three said no.. They did have a cake and collected money for him (8 people... $100 GC).....

I am on the other hand inviting people from my old job just because I still keep in touch with them.

It all depends on how you feel about your coworkers. Sometimes its best to even lie and say its going to be a family affair not to get them offended if they were looking for an invite.

If they really do care about you they will do some type of effort to collect money or have a cake or lunch for you depending how big of a company you work for.

Re: Inviting co-workers

I work in a huge place so no I am not inviting everyone.

In my direct office there are 7 people (including my boss)

I am inviting 3 girls who I hang with outside of work

Plus the 6 others from my office.

You definately have to draw the line somewhere

Not inviting co-workers.... but I am inviting about 10 former co-workers from my previous job. The vibe is very different in my office and I can care less if any of them come and I am sure they feel the same way.

save yourself the $$$

FH and i met at work...our co-worker list is quite long. at the same time a lot of them were B-list, but our numbers are really low, so they moved to a-list. i know people not invited will actually take it personally (large school organization - he's a teacher and i work as a coordinator), but we already have like 20 co-workers (+spouses) on our list. i needed to cut it off somewhere.
