inviting co-workers to the shower?

inviting co-workers to the shower?

i'm not sure what to do.

at work, they always throw a shower for weddings/first births. everyone chips in $5-10 and buys group gifts. there will be several people from work invited to the wedding.

in the past, my friends from work HAVE invited co-workers to their shower--even though that means they technically buy 2 gifts. well...one 'real' gift and a portion of another.

i was talking with another soon to be bride and she's not inviting anyone from work since they already gave her a shower. i was planning on inviting some co-workers but now i'm worried that it's too much.

any advice? these are women i'm very close to at work, sometimes speak on the phone with, but rarely 'hang out' with.

i haven't actually had my work shower yet, but it'll be coming soon i'm sure. i'm pretty sure my real shower is in june.

My job does the identical thing. Invite them... they are your friends and would be insulted if they weren't. Remember it is there choice to come to your shower.

I would only invite them if they were really close.

I agree with SR

I would invite them. In all likelihood your 'regular' shower will be before the work shower. The dual invitees can make a decision NOT to contribute to the work shower gift, or to just throw in $2-$3 instead of $5-$10.

I'm inviting my close work friends to the shower. But I don't think they're going to end up throwing a work shower for me though.
