Inviting Coworkers

Inviting Coworkers

Hello All Brides,
At the time of my wedding this summer, I will be working for a year at my current job. I am only close with a few people and definitely do not hang out with anyone after work. In fact, nobody sees each other outside of work. We have a group of 12 people including managers and up. I've done some research online to see what the etiquette was but different sources site different rules. I wanted to give LIWeddings Brides a shot and see what you girls think and have done/are doing. Also, one of my male coworkers is also getting married this summer, before me, and is inviting everyone in the department, and his wedding is going to be smaller. So I feel like I have to follow suit. I was planning on inviting everyone, except this one girl, who is extremely obnoxious and rude. Actually, nobody can stand her and just tolerate her with an eye roll. I know that the etiquette says to invite, but we don't even say hi to each other. I would really appreciate your advice and experiences

I did not invite everyone on my team especially since I am working with them less then a year. June of last year I transferred to a new group, invited my new manager and my old manager (worked for her 2 1/2 years) but still speak to her along with 2 other former co-workers that I stay in touch with. Don't feel bad about not inviting people from work especially if you have not worked with them very long.

If you dont say Hi to a person they shouldnt be invited!! I am inviting a past coworker who I remained in contact with. if i would have stayed there for longer than the year I was there I wouldnt invite everyone. Maybe 2 employese and boss (we have total of 10 people there but i wasnt close with the rest). so my ans is if you can invite everyone except this rude girl, that may be rude but I personally wouldnt waste money on someone like that at my wedding.

Interesting..I also have this dilemma. I've been at my current job less about 2 years and only know my coworkers to an extent.
I know of 2-3 I will invite so far and that may extend..
I would think it varies based on certain factors. If you have been working at the the same job for many years I would imagine some of your coworkers are like family at that point.
Would also like to hear feedback.

I did not invite everyone at my job - and there are a lot of people! I pretty much invited my 2 bosses, a few of the assistants that I am friends with and one other president because I do a lot of stuff for her and I feel that if she didn't get an invite I might hear something (I really don't like her much and she probably wont come anyways). And everyone invited is invited with a guest.

As far as the other people not invited, I could really care less. These are people that I pretty much just say Hi to when I walk past them and that's it... it's not like I sit there and have heart to heart convos with them or talk to them about anything besides work related things.

I am only inviting my boss. By the time i get married i would have been here 1 year. There are 2 co workers that i would invite but to keep the piece and not start any drama i decided to only invite my boss.

I am only inviting co-workers I hang out with outside of work and e-mail on weekends.

Even though your male co-worker is having a small wedding and inviting everyone, he may not have many friends, family, so the situation could be different.

In your situation, I would say your wedding list is to big and you can't invite the people.

I only invited my Manager and two co-workers; I did not invite anyone else. I only invited people I am close to and actually go out and spend time with outside of work.

By my wedding in July I will be at my job for 3 years. We are a VERY small company, 8 ppl (counting the 2 owners) I am inviting 3 co-workers that I speak to on a daily basis and consider myself to be close with. I am also inviting my 2 bosses (husband / wife) whom own the company. I struggled a bit w/whether or not to invite them. The truth is I knew that if I didnt, invite them, it would cause a 'weird' vibe in the office and to be honest, that is not something I want to deal with. I think at the LEAST you should def invite the guy who invited you to his wedding and anyone that you might go to for advice or who you enjoy chatting w/through out the day.

HTH.

Re: Inviting Coworkers

So funny that you posted this today.

I just had the most awkward situation just happen.

My boss' psycho ex wife works at our office and NOONE likes her. He just asked me if im inviting her to my wedding so that he can figure out if she needs a ride or not.

i WAS NOTTTTT planning on inviting her because we've had words in the past and the last person i want there on the most important day of my life is her. She is the only one im not inviting and its justified because since the recession she only comes in one day a week so i hardly even see her anymore.

Thank goodness my other boss was there and said 'if you want her to come, she can be your date.'

Unfortunately he just questioned that saying Why cant you just invite us both without dates??

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
