Inviting friends who are not dating anyone?

Is it okay to invite people without a guest if they are not dating someone? I have a lot of guests that don't have a significant other and I don't think I want to invite them plus a guest just so they can bring some stranger. Now most of these people are people that Myself and FH work with so they all know eachother. When we have our holiday party they never bring a guest and have a great time with eachother. There must be close to 15-20 people?

Re: Inviting friends who are not dating anyone?

I invited everyone with a date. I had the room at my reception. All of my husband's single friends came stag, but all of my single friends brought someone.

Re: Inviting friends who are not dating anyone?

I think that's fine... especially since it's 15-20 of them... That's two tables full! Weddings cost a lot of money, there is no reason to invite everyone with a date ESPECIALLY if they're not even seeing anyone. I am inviting dates with all guests over 18, BUT I've been to a wedding where guests were NOT invited with those who were not in a serious relationship. Hope I helped. Good luck! Whatever you decide will be the right answer!

I am inviting all my single friends and family with guests. I hated being singled out when I was single.

Re: Inviting friends who are not dating anyone?

I agree with Octbride03. You have more than enough single people to fill a table or two.

IMO - at probably $75+ a head, there is no reason for 20 people to bring dates they hardly know if there will be other single people for them to hang with!!

Re: Inviting friends who are not dating anyone?

As long as the single people know other guests that will there I thinks it's fine. A lot of people think weddings are a great place to meet someone

Re: Inviting friends who are not dating anyone?

I am wishy-washy on this. But I think if they all know each other and they don't have erious others it isn't too bad...esp. since there are so many and weddings are $$$.

I invited all the single people with dates. I had about 10 of them from all different groups of friends. Only half of them actually brought guests. Most of my single, younger guests were in the 28-35 age range and just felt it wasn't right to not invite them with a guest.

I was invited to a wedding were none of us were invited with guests but it was when we were right out of college (a year or so) so we didn't care. We all rented a bus and went together..it was fun!

Re: Inviting friends who are not dating anyone?

we did a post about this. In fact I started it.

I believe it was and guest or no guest.

To answer your question I will do the and guest. I am not a big fan of it especially since we have quite a few single friends, who will probably just bring any old joe or jill schmo.

Re: Inviting friends who are not dating anyone?

I plan to invite everyone with a guest. Most of my friends will come alone if they are not dating someone. I just want to give them the option beause I didn't like it when I din't get the option.

Re: Inviting friends who are not dating anyone?

I invited all of mine with a date just because I hated it when I was invited solo. A lot of my friends did not choose to invite someone so they are coming alone.

Re: Inviting friends who are not dating anyone?

We invited everyone with a date. Surprisingly they all decided not to bring one. We wanted to give them the option though. Some people wouldn't be comfortable going alone.

I'm inviting friends with dates. I would hate going alone and not knowing many people.

Re: Inviting friends who are not dating anyone?

I think if you are inviting people w/a guest you need to do it across the board. Unless you speak to your co-workers before and they are all fine with it!

Re: Inviting friends who are not dating anyone?

I'm allowing them all to bring a guest. I always liked that privilege for myself when I was single, I want everyone to be comfortable.
The only way I wont invite a guest is if they specifically let me know beforehand they are coming alone.
