Inviting guests to brunch the day after

My mother told me that she wants to host a brunch at her house the day after the wedding. She suggested having bagels, donuts, pastries, etc. I want to include an invite/announcement in my hotel baskets for the out of town guests. Has anyone seen an example or template for this? I know I could probably just come up with something myself, but I am starting to really feel the pressure and am looking for ways to ease it a little bit!

Re: Inviting guests to brunch the day after

I don't think you should put the announcement in the baskets....you should mail them out beforehand. I just went to one of these., the groom's family threw a brunch the next day.

ETS: Sorry I forgot to add, we got an invite in the mail a few weeks before the wedding. I think it would be easier for the out of town guests to plan ahead of time.

Re: Inviting guests to brunch the day after

My FSILs wedding was at a hotel so there were a lot of overnighters. Her M&FIL wanted to treat everyone who spent the night, to breakfast the next morning. So FSIL typed a little something up on pretty bridal paper (from Staples) stating such...and had the hotel staff slip them under the doors of the blocked rooms.

I think if you just typed something up on cardstock and slipped it into the hotel baskets (or did what my FSIL did) that would be really nice. I don't think it has to be witty or poem-like or fancy...something simple with all the info needed, would be really nice.

JMO.

Re: Inviting guests to brunch the day after

I agree about sending something out before hand then put a reminder in the welcome letter with directions, phone number, etc.

My cousin told us about a day after brunch as we were leaving his wedding but we had already bought tickets for something for the next day. I felt like it was a last minute invite to correct an oversite. (I know in the case of the welcome basket, it would not be the same thing)

Re: Inviting guests to brunch the day after

I'm planning on doing what cp suggested. They all know about it already, so it will be just a reminder. Make sure you put directions also.

Re: Inviting guests to brunch the day after

Oh no. My wedding is a few weeks away (7/5) and this was a last minute thing. I don't really have time to print out invites and send them out. Is it bad if I just let the out of towners know when they arrive?

Of course, I would let all my family and the local guests know before the day of the wedding

Re: Inviting guests to brunch the day after

I think its fine to let them know when they arrive. I do not think its necessary to send out a invitation.... this way its less formal and more relaxed for the guests, IMO.

Re: Inviting guests to brunch the day after

we put it in the hotel baskets, b/c the brunch was at the hotel...this was our letter:

Dear Friends and Family,

Welcome to Long Island and the Huntington Hilton for John and Erica’s Wedding. We hope that you arrived safely and well.

The wedding will take place in Sayville, NY. This is about 30-45 minutes away, so please allow for traveling time.

If you have arrived Saturday night we would like to invite you for dinner at 6:00. Please join Madeline and Earle at the Ocean Crest Diner located at 269 Route 110 (631-421-4460). It is located on the same side of Route 110 as the Hilton, but a little bit north (left from the Hilton).

If you will be staying at the Hilton until Monday morning, we would like to invite you to breakfast with the newlyweds. It will begin at 10 AM. Please check with the hotel lobby for the room, as its location will depend upon the weather.

We hope that you have a great time in Long Island and at the wedding!

Re: Inviting guests to brunch the day after

We're having a breakfast brunch the day after the wedding for out of towners staying at the hotel we're using.

I had planned to put informal invites in w/the welcome bags we're making. But let those who already told us they're staying at the hotel know - via word of mouth - about the brunch.

So to those of you who mailed out invites prior to the wedding: did you send them w/the wedding invitations, or separately? Did you send them to anyone who may consider staying at the hotel or just those you knew for a fact would stay there?

I'm also inviting MOH & her parents cuz they're doing so much for us re: wedding.

Re: Inviting guests to brunch the day after

My aunt is holding a brunch the morning after my cousins wedding. She put a small note about it in the invitiation. It was on the same paper as the response card. It mentioned you were invited to a morning after brunch and had a space to respond if you were going to attend or not.
