Inviting kids... Sort of

Inviting kids... Sort of

So it's looking more and more like we're going to be inviting some people's small children (just when I thought all this guest list BS was behind us). Is there any polite way of saying 'your child is on the invitation to keep the peace, but PLEASE leave him/her with the babysitter we will provide at the hall and not bring them to my ceremony and/or reception'? I really don't want little kids (I'm talking 2 and under) at my wedding.

ETA: I was thinking somehting like 'Please let us know if you would like to have a babysitter at the hall watching your child so you can enjoy your afternoon worry-free'

My friend had 'Adult Reception' on the lower left hand corner of her invitation - families with children got the clue...good luck!

That's hard. If I were doing that - I would probably not address the invite to the children at all. But if they are people you are close enough with - shoot them an email or a phone call letting them know there will be a babysitter on hand for anyone who can not find other childcare for the day. This way it sounds like you are just getting a babysitter but not actually inviting the kids to the ceremony and reception. Good Luck! I know this is tough - I'm in a similar situation with some rude people who have already asked what kind of childcare I am providing at my wedding for their children...RUDE!

Can you be direct to say:

'Experienced childcare will be provided for both the ceremony and reception to enhance the experience of our guests.'

Maybe have it on a little piece of paper and drop it into the invites of those with kids so EVERYONE doesn't have to see it.
