For those of you having the ceremony at the same place your reception is being held, are you inviting your officent to stay for the reception? Are you buying a plate for them? I was thinking about it and I wasn't too sure. What is everyone else doing?

I'm not too sure either. I think I read somewhere that it's nice to invite them but they usually decline. Ours says he sometimes performs 3 ceremonies a day - he couldn't possibly attend 3 weddings LOL

I'm not sure. I'm using Father Wilshire. Cira, if you read this - are you inviting Fr. Wilshire to your reception?

Hey Tracyann - no, I'm not inviting him, he is going to stay for the cocktail hour but that's it. We told him we wanted him to stay for that! I'm glad you booked him!

How would you go about inviting them to the cocktail hr. only and not the reception? Just ask would you like to join the cocktail hour? Hwwould you address that?

I think I am going to say' we would love for you to stay through the cocktail hour to mingle with our families, if you like.'. I wouldnt' consider it other wise, but we are past maximum as it is!

I wasn't sure about this either. When I asked around I was told that you should invite the officiant if he is your regular pastor, priest, etc. But after reading this thread I may invite mine to stay for the cocktail hour.
