Is it absolutely necessary to invite the deacon who is doing our ceremony? My FH and I are unsure - cuz it's not our church (we're doing a religious ceremony to appease the 'rents) we really don't know him and we don't know what to do...

if you dont have a relationship w/ your officiant, then there's no reason to invite him/her

we're inviting our rabbi, but we've known him since I was a toddler.
I definitely don't think it's necessary, especially if it's not someone you have a relationship with.

No you do not have to. We are but the priest is a family friend.

I thought you were supposed to. Im not sure if its only if you know them though.
I heard that you invite them and they will most likely decline and at most, attend the CH to be nice.
