I cant decide what to do. I know a lot of girls invite all OOT guests to the RD. But I was reading in some etiquette books that this is not proper and that you are only supposed to invite those people who will be involved in the ceremony. What is everyone doing?

Re: Inviting OOT guests to RD?
I am kind of in the same situation... we have a lot of OOT guests and they may get to LI a day early... now I wanted the RD to be people only in the ceremony and our immediate family... but FMIL & FFIL are paying for the rehearsal diner so I really want to speak to them and see how they feel having extra people... to follow weddign ettiquette is fine but you really gotta do what makes you happy and what you feel is right...

I think etiquette says that the RD is meant for those involved with the cermony BUT that you CAN add those who are OOT as a nice gesture - we are inviting some people from out of town - but not all (we do also know who is coming in and when so that made a difference) we are not inviting all those who are OOT because many will want to spend time with local relatives (their children) who are not invited
I would say look at your OOT list - and you can invite any close friends or relatives who are coming in from out of town if you wish and expand it from there if you need to

Re: Inviting OOT guests to RD?
MY RD is on thursday and my wedding is on Saturday. So chances are the out of town people will not be here yet. Whick is why I planned the RD that way. It would be about 20-25 people more and since I am having a smalling bridal party that is more than the bridal party and their guests.

Re: Inviting OOT guests to RD?
My wedding is almost all OOT guests- like 90%. I have a very small family and my FI family lives in California. We decided to do the RD as just immediate family, aunts, uncles, grandparents and bridal party. Then we decided after the RD that we would either invite everyone else out with us to a bar, or do some sort of mini 'welcome reception' (like wine and dessert) at either the hotel where everyone is staying or my parents house, for any OOT guests that are in town. That way we don't have to worry about dinner, but they still feel like they're invited to something- plus we'd like to see them.
It's a nice touch to invite OOT guests, but they shouldn't be offended if they aren't invited.

We have a ton of OOT guests as well, and we were thinking of doing something similar to mnttnbchbride. I just can't afford to feed all those people twice in a row!!!

Re: Inviting OOT guests to RD?
We went back and forth on this. We have a lot of oot guests also. If we invited them all to the rd it would have been for about 70 people. Way to many. So we decided to have just the wedding party and people who are involved in the wedding. We are meeting our OOT guests for drinks afterwards.
