Inviting people at the last minute

Inviting people at the last minute

We are 1 month away from our wedding and we are about 30-40 under our minimum.

We still have some RSVPs that we are waiting for, but we will probably only add about 10 people. I was going to invite people from work, but I never got a chance- and I didn't want to be way OVER the minimum... We didn't get a lot of No's at first and the ones that we got recently were a surprise...

Is it rude to invite people from work at the last minute? I don't want them to feel like they are the B-list There are 4 ladies in my department-I would invite all of them w/ guests. I just feel bad b/c I can't even give them the response card (my RSVP date was Sunday). There are also other girls at my job who are closer to my age- I want to invite them but we don't really get to talk much at work. I've been working at my job for almost a year- but my job is soo busy that I barely get to speak to anyone.

1 of the girls that I speak to at work got married last year (before I started) and she told me that she e-mailed the whole office before the wedding saying 'I have ___ spots left, if u want to come to my wedding e-mail me'... and people emailed her and went. I feel kinda awkward doing this...

truth is, they ARE b-list. and some people are okay with that.
Be honest. you couldnt invite them, and now you can. If they can come GREAT, if not you understand. i say ask who you would like there and dont stress it

all else fails, invite LIW girls, we are great seat fillers, bring gifts and dance like fools!

I'd love to have LIW girls. I don't really know anyone on here (except a few lurkers lol).

FH and I have very large families so I only invited 1st cousins but we ended up getting a lot of unexpected no's from people so I emailed all of my 2nd cousins and told them the truth and some of them are coming which helps our minimum because we are under.

I would go to your wedding but I am your date twin !

But yeah, dont feel bad inviting them, regardless of when you did, they should feel honored to be a guest

Just be honest with them.

Go with something like; we really wanted to invite you but initally where way over our guarantee. Know that some family can not make it we would love to extend you an invite.

I would tell them the truth. I invited a few people last minute and almost all of them replied yes.

I have been invited last minue to coworkers weddings, like when was I new and didn't really know everyone that long, and I was still grateful for the invitation and didn't care that I was a last minute invite. It's still fun no matter what

We had to do this b/c we were WAY under our minimum. We went up to people individually (or email if you want) and basically said something like 'we really would like you to come and wanted to invite you immediately but we were concerned at first with our numbers because our families are just too big. here's the invitation and please let us know if you can make it - we would love to have you there.'

we're in the same boat! i was going to volunteer myself then saw your wedding date & realized we're date twins!

can you do a DIY RSVP card with a different date instead?

I would just tell them that you wanted to invite them but had to see what the numbers ended up being after you heard from friends and family. Now that you know you still have space you can add more people. Or give them invitations at work without the RSVP cards.

i invited some co-workers and less-close friends last minute ... we ended up just making our minimum, it worked out quite well and no one was insulted... in fact most were flattered that they were invited at all

Thank u for all of your responses. I am going to invite co-workers tomorrow- my alarm clock decided not to go off this morning so I ran out of the house without the invites today.

i was trying to look into doing this about a week ago but then FFIL got really sick and has been in the hospital and i put off the wedding planning for a bit - now if i make new response cards w/ a different date it will have to be for a week or 2 from now anyway lol
