My coworker is getting married three months before me and when she told me she was NOT inviting people WITH guests I was shocked!
She's inviting all of her friends from college but none of their boyfriends. I thought that was crazy especially since her and FH's parents are paying for the RH.
Basically her rule is if your in the Bridal party or Engaged, then you can bring a date.
Is anyone else doing this?

Re: Inviting people w/ guests
I know a lot of people who do this. My cousins wedding is this weekend and their rule was that you had to be dating at least a year to bring a guest.

I personally think most people (adults) should be invited with a date -- especially if they are in a relationship

But what if they were dating 6 months and very serious? Just wondering. FH and I moved in together after 6 months. I would be really offended if I couldnt bring him as my date. LOL

We are inviting pretty much everyone with a guest, even people that are not currently in relationships

We are inviting people who are in serious relationships with a date. If you've been dating someone a couple months and its not serious...sorry, but the reception is over at 8 so you can still hang with them later on lol

ug as of now were inviting everyone with a date, which is sooooo annoying, because it's literally adding somewhere around 50 people (who we wont even know!!) to our wedding..ridiculous

I'm really sensitive to this b/c I had a fight with a friend over it years ago. I was dating someone and she decided it wasnt serious enough for him to come. Of course, I'm not with him now, but at the time I thought it was serious. That's why I just think it's easier to invite everyone with a date and hope those that dont have a significant other dont bring one!
Is your cousin not going causing a family war?

ditto...just cant handle the drama..so when you send the invite are you going to just write +1 or and guest or are you going to find out the name of the date?? I was reading an ettiquitte book that said it is proper to put the actual name of the guest on the invite but it seems like a huge pain

We are not inviting everyone with a guest, because it would be adding almost 100 extra people to our list- which is just way too much. If we have room at the end, we'll ask our friends if they'd like to bring a date.
However, anyone married, engaged, or in a relationship will be invited with their plus 1.

If you know someone is in a relationship...you should include their dates name. If they arent in one...just write 'and guest'

Yes, I totally agree that if you're in a relationship with someone they should be invited. But like, if I wasn't engaged I'm sure she wouldn't invite FH, who I've been with for 7 years. I don't care - I think its ridiculous.

It pretty much did start one, then what happened was he wound up going under his minimum and said that her boyfriend could come, which she responded shove it. It was ugly, so I decided that for my wedding everyone will be invited +1 to avoid family drama.

Same here. We have a ton of single friends, but we're still putting '& guest'.

I'm giving my adult cousins the option of bringing a guest.
