if the person has a BF/GF for a LONG time and/or we know them, they are inviting. but people who don't we aren't inviting with a guest. we are limited on space so i'm not going to let every person bring a date. its just not possible with our budget.

I invited '+1' only if the friend was married/engaged/long term relationship/or if they didn't know anyone else at the wedding.
I do have some random friends who don't know anyone else that I know. In these rare cases, I invited them with a guest.

I think it really depends on your budget and how your guest list looks. We are able to invite everyone with a guest and that person can bring a GF or BF or a friend...I don;t car....but if you tight on your list then I would limit it to people in relationships
