Re: inviting question..
Don't get me started. I have a friend bringing another girl at this point. Fh already said fine, so I don't know what to do. Honestly people that I am close to I am asking what they want, cousins I am giving the option, others I'm not sure yet.

Re: inviting question..
I would make that call on a case-by-case basis. I have a friend whose husband probably can't come to the reception because of work (he has a weird schedule and they live across the country), but wants to take a friend of hers from here who I've hung out with a couple of times. Since I know him, I have no problem with him coming as her guest because she would have brought a guest either way. But the girl who doesn't have a boyfriend and hasn't had a boyfriend in awhile. . .not so sure about that. And the one who has a new boyfriend every week? NO WAY. No guest.
Use your judgment on this one. . .it will all work out in the end!!!!!!!!

Re: inviting question..
we originally were doing everyone 'and guest', but have decided that if they arent currently married/engaged/dating for a long time, then there will be no 'and guest' ... we really just do not have the room for strangers ... if the person will not know anyone else there, then i think its a must, but if not, too freakin bad... dont come if you are offended LOL

I agree with Mazz. Well, on my side at least, because that's all I have control over. My single friend is not being invited with a guest, but she knows my family and other girls being invited. My other friend will be married by then, and two are in long term relationships, so they get guests.
FH's side, however, FMIL is requiring that the older cousins get guests, as well as FH's guy friends. Whatever, I don't even care at this point

Re: inviting question..
I am putting and guest for everyone.. The vast majority of people I know are in long term relationships and those who are not, ever RARELY bring a random date to any of our family functions.. There are so few single people that I really don't think the 'and guest' addition will affect my numbers too drastically!

Re: inviting question..
I made it really depend on the situation and who it was. For example...my co-works and FHs... the married people are allowed to bring their other half... but as for everyone else...no. I mean, everyone is so close at our jobs, so it's not like they are going to alone and have no one to talk to if they don't bring a guest. But there's one of our friends that doesn't have another half, so we are allowing them to bring a guest so they aren't alone. I had sooo many co-workers give me an attitude, by really....if I were to invte EVERYONE with a guest, we'd be well over 500!

i had the same situation. Alot of our friends are in relationships so they got an invite with their names and not just and guest but obviously their SO's name. But we also had single friends but we sent them an invite with and guest, but i didnt worry really bc i knew most of those single friends go to events alone and dont really bring random ppl. Been to other events with them and they did the same thing or for our eparty for example they did the same thing so i knew for our wedding wouldn't be different and i was right, most of our single friends came alone although we gave them and guest.

Re: inviting question..
etiquette says you invite those with their people who are married, enagaged, long term relationship, and live ins..... its up to you who else you want to invite with guest..... were inviting pretty much all singles with guests, thats just how we wanted it (then again most on our list are married/engaged/long term or live in but around 20 or so werent so we didnt mind having them with a guest)

Re: inviting question..
I basically told my friends outright that when it come to invitation time if they are not seriously involved with anyone, they are not getting a guest invite. Sorry, but we are having a small wedding (80-90ppl) and I can't be having people bringing someone along just because.

Re: inviting question..
We're doing 'and guest' for all adults. I know I'd be uncomfortable coming alone to a wedding if I were single.

Re: inviting question..
if I know my friend is in a long term relationship then their significant other is invited, if I know my friend is single and dating around then they are invited solo....i dont need strangers at my wedding

Re: inviting question..
we invited everyone with a guest. If they choose to bring one fine, if not thats fine too. we didnt want anyone to feel uncomfy. Thats just our opinion.
