Just wondering.... for those having a Rabbi officiate your ceremony, are you inviting the Rabbi to your wedding? What about the rehearsal dinner?
If you are inviting to the wedding, where will you sit him/her?

Re: Inviting Rabbi to Wedding?
I've never been to a Jewish wedding, but at the other weddings I've been to the priest has always been at both the rehersal dinner and the reception, and I'm doing that as well. However, I also think at all these weddings the priest was more known to the family then out of the phone book, so it would only make sense. I'm sitting our priest at my parents table.

Re: Inviting Rabbi to Wedding?
Since I am Jewish and FH is Catholic, we are having both a priest and a rabbi. When we met with the priest he mentioned how they love the food at TC and the rabbi brings his wife. We weren't planning on having them stay for the wedding, but apparently they are!!!! Not sure where to seat them yet...will definitely put them together since they work together, but don't know what table - I guess whatever table has some open seats.

Re: Inviting Rabbi to Wedding?
you dont' NEED to invite the Rabbi to your RH or your reception ... but if you're close with him/her, you're obviously welcome to.
we didn't invite ours to anything ... we told him he's welcome to stay for the CH and have a drink or two (our ceremony was at our RH) ... but that was it.

My mother's response: (Horrified gasp) Of course you need to invite the Rabbi! Is he/she married? Then you have to invite the spouse! Kids? Them too? Maybe we should invite the janitor.
My response: It's your wedding, do whatever you want!

We ARE inviting our priest (known him for years, parish priest) and are NOT inviting the Rabbi (hired just for the wedding). HTH

Re: Inviting Rabbi to Wedding?
We decided to invite the Rabbi and his wife (not their kids) - and they both accepted. We'll probably invite them to the rehearsal dinner, but I didn't know if he'll think it's too much 'work stuff' for the weekend. Granted, the dinner is a social event, but he'd only be coming b/c he's performing our ceremony the next day.
Still not sure where to seat him... he and his wife are in their early 30's. I'm leaning toward having him sit with some of my work friends, a couple who are jewish and who also have young kids. Plus, there are a couple of work friends in their 50's that are coming, too. I was wondering if people would feel they have to behave differently in his presence - like be on their *best* behavior.
