Did you/do you plan on inviting the priest to your reception? I was all set to do this when we originally had a priest who knew both of us for a long time. Now we are booked with a priest we like very much and think he will do a wonderful job but just met for the first time yesterday and may only see a few times before the wedding, if that.
I'm sure he wouldn't come anyway, but I was wondering if he should be invited regardless of how well we know each other.
Thanks ladies!

Re: Inviting the Priest?
IMO, I don't think you NEED to invite the priest. I didn't but also got married in a different parish. However, I don't think it's necessary.

I'm Jewish, but we were planning to invite the Rabbi until we met with him. He basically said he'll be gone before cocktail hour begins since he'll have lots of other things to do that day. I still feel like we may reach out to him and let him know he's welcome to stay and bring his wife, but I don't think they would.

We are inviting both pastors and their wives because they are family friends. We have the one (PG) I really want to have, but he has pancreatic cancer and has good and bad days, has been fighting it over a yr now. He confirmed my parents and my uncles when they were kids. Please say prayers for him. We also have the man he inspired to become a pastor who will probably do the service if the 1st one is having a bad day. If PG knows he can't do it, I asked him to do a blessing for us even if it is at his house so he can still be a part of our wedding, he's known me since I was born, he did my parents wedding and one of my uncle's too.

Re: Inviting the Priest?
It's completely up to you. I was at a wedding in October where the priest was at the reception but only because he was family. We know our priest well but we are not inviting him.

My priest is family so he is invited. Otherwise, I wouldn't invite the priest to the reception.

We're not inviting the Reverend. We've been to services at the church a handful of times, but aren't members. She's super sweet, but we honestly don't know her very well.
