Inviting to my shower--where do you draw the line??
I am not inviting every female on our invite list. But where did you draw the line? With his family, I really dont want all this extended family who I dont know there. I dont want people getting an invite and going 'whose Amy?'
Any advice would be great.

I'd say close family and friends. Maybe it's something you need to think about on a person by person basis- if you can't put a face to a name then you could cross them off the list.

My mom and I just went through #'s for my shower... I figure, I will invite all the females from mine and FH's portion of the list, then my mom and FMIL will each have close relatives and close friends.. .
We are figuring it will be about 60 people- with no more than 50 showing up. If we need to cut, we will.
Does that help at all? Start with that, then start cutting where you can.

I put the women DH or I knew personally on the guest list for the shower. I thought his family should be fairly represented even if I didn't know them, I am sure they would like to be there for his sake (like his god-mother that I met a week before the shower so it was after the invite was sent).

I would stick to close family and friends...I hate going to showers when I don't really know the bride. I actually got a shower invitation 2 months ago to this girl (whom I've met once or twice, her parents are friends with my FIL's) and I didn't go---SHE DIDN'T INVITE US TO THE WEDDING! They invited me to the shower and not the wedding-I thought it was so odd! (sorry, I had to tell that story b/c I was so surprised by it!)

I'm doing my family and friends, FH's aunts, mother, grandmother and a couple of cousins that I know. No one else from his side. As much as the gifts are for both of us, the party's for the bride - you shouldn't 'meet' anyone at your own shower.
