inviting with guests

inviting with guests

We have a max of 150 people we can invite to our reception. I have a decent number of friends and cousins who are not in a relationship at all. I always read it is okay to not invite these people with dates unless they are in a serious relationship, engaged, or living together. But what do people think? Will it be totally rude of me to invite them alone? I have one friend in particular I know is going to be super offended if I invite her alone, but I can't see where it is okay to let her bring a date and not the others. Help?

As long as they will know other people there then I don't see a problem with it.

See if they won't know anyone, I'd invite them with a guest. But, I also refuse to put '+1' on the invite. I want to know who they are bringing ahead of time. I think putting '+1' is very unpersonal and I think the guest would feel less out of place by having their name appear in places like the invitation and the seating card. And if someone is older I would also invite them with a guest.

I'm having the same problem....we have a max of 100 with an invitation list of 130.

I agree. If there not in a serious relationship I would not invite with guest. I had this problem with my engagement party. Fh's cousin is 18 and she had a bf that none of us knew about and we only invited her and she threw a fit that he wasn't invited. Well we didn't even know she had a BF so why invite him?? FH or myslef never met him so he wasn't getting invited!!!

I'm inviting everyone who is single with a guest. I was once on the other side (single wedding guest) and often had no one to talk to becuase everyone else was coupled-up and dancing with their partner....

It was very uncomfortable, needless to say....

I think it depends on the situation. If all of your singles are family or friends with someone who is attending the wedding, then I don't see the problem of them coming alone. They will know someone they could socialize with. If most of them are just single friends who will know no one, then I would let them bring a guest.

we had that problem too...we are trying to keep our list at 100!! but i think as long as you explain to any singles that seem to have a problem with it that you are not having a huge wedding, and that NONE of the singles are invited with guests, then they should be fine with it. or at least they BETTER be!!

we're inviting couples who are married or are in long term relationships. if you don't want to spend a million dollars, you have to draw the line somewhere.

I am limiting some of my guests. I do not think its rude if they are not in a relationship. I got invited to a wedding in 2004 and FH was not invited and we've been dating at that time for like 7 yrs neither I or FH was offended people do as they can afford.

My personal opinion is I think everyone should be invited with a guest, but do what works for you

im doing the same thing if they are not in a serious relationship then they cant bring a guest...both fh & my families are large and we have to minimize as much as possible

we are only inviting people that have a serious significant other to come with a date. We do not have the room to invite everyone and would prefer to know everyone at the reception and not have people bring random guests.

I have a set amount of people we came up with to invite. That number doesnt include guests for my cousins who are older than me. We agreed that If someone is in the bridal party, they can bring a guest. Other than that, its just not possible. If you say it for one person, you sorta have to say it for everyone.
