Just got off the phone calling a couple of djs. I'm so shocked that everyone is priced at $1595 and up. Now I'm thinking of just having an ipod. Does anyone else feel this way??

Re: Ipod Wedding?
That seems like a lot! I shouldn't say that really because I'm probably going with someone who is 2k but I'm looking for something different - but a basic DJ from one of these bigger companies should be under a thousand based on what I've seen here! Doing it yourself would be a LOT of work!

FM Entertainment is, I think $895 for one dj with nothing else. I hope this helps!

What DJ companies were you looking at?

If you were having a very small backyard wedding an ipod might be okay but anything bigger I'd be worried. It's too much for you to worry about.

Re: Ipod Wedding?
For us we were shocked at what a DJ was going to cost us, but we realized that the DJ really sets the tone for the party. We met with Bravura and saw their showcase and knew they were for us, but they can be pricey. I woudl say shop around, and dont settle. Look for want and dont settle. You should be able to dance the night way and not worry about who will hit the nexy play list.

Re: Ipod Wedding?
I have a TON of resources on iPod weddings if you need them, just FM me. That was our number one choice...until FFIL decided to book a dj for us lol. Do you need to have lights, etc (is it a night reception)? We did at least get $900 with after hours, but that's because our room at Fox Hollow doesn't need lights and it's in the afternoon.

I dunno why when I reply to posts, the post that I am replying to doesnt show up anymore....Anyway, for those who are curious, I called Bravura, Genesis Event, Body Rock and Silverfox.
I have another question for you ladies. I am having a day wedding. For those of you who are too, are you getting lighting? I didn't think itll be necessary but some of the DJs are saying otherwise

They will always say otherwise- my suggestion is to get the basics and add on if and when you can. You can always add to your contract; taking away is another story!

If your entire reception will be during day light hours then I really don't think you will need lighting unless your reception room doesn't have any/many windows to let the light in.

Re: Ipod Wedding?
Hey girl- everyone is right- the DJ & the food is honestly what makes a party. The place does as well but usually a GREAT wedding is when people after the party say 'wow that dj/mc was amazing and kept me dancing all night OR wow that food was simply phenomenal'. You can skimp out on other things such as the dress or flowers and video but NEVER choose an Ipod as a DJ...not the way to go in my opinion. Also depending on where your wedding is you can skip out on super expensive lighting and all that stuff but having great music and food always = a great unforgettable party!!
Hope my advice helped!

The DJ I went with explained that I wouldn't need it for my daytime wedding..

Yeah...something didnt feel right when he told me that I would need lights for my day wedding. It would clash with the sunny wedding that i envisioned. Thanks all for your comments
