Does anyone know when the best time of year to visit Ireland is?
Any recommendations?

Re: Ireland?
You should FM soon2bmrs She probably won't be on for a few days because she's actually almost on a plane moving back to the Staes from Ireland, where she's been living for the past 18 months. But she'd be able to help you.

Re: Ireland?
We went in January - it was damp and the electricity kept going out in different towns, no matter where we were. We loved it but others might prefer a longer day, like in the summer.

Re: Ireland?
Most of my family lives there and I would say from May-October would be the best time to be there....not as damp and the days are longer and warmer at least by their standerds!

Re: Ireland?
I have been there about 7 times in my life and all the time we went during the summer. Mostly because of school. So i can only tell you that July and August is really nice over there.

Check out this website. It was really helpful to me each time I planned a trip there.

So would you say August over October? Those are the two months we are depating about. Originally we thought Sept, but now we have an out-of-town wedding and are already going to VT for Labor Day wknd.

Re: Ireland?
Aug is nicer but its also more expensive to travel at that time. Oct can be cold and wet.

Re: Ireland?
I don't mean to hijack your thread, but I also had a few q's from those Ireland specialists
We're planning on going to Ireland as part of our honeymoon & then a Mediterranean cruise. YET neither of us have ever been to Europe. We wanted suggestions on places to stay & things to see in Ireland & what isn't worth seeing. I'm thinking we'd like to stay in one place for 4-5 days.
BUT then we have to fly into Venice or Rome. Is that a brutally long flight? Could we fly direct?
Thanks so much!
Also, we'd be flying from NY, where should we fly into?

Re: Ireland?
You can fly direct to Italy and I think its only about 2/3 hours from Ireland. For the amt of time you are going to be in Ireland, I would focus on one part. If you want to go to the west you would fly into Shannon. I would def recommend going to Galway. There are the cliffs on Mohar & Connemara - I have been away so long that I have forgotten how to spell. There is a lot to and see. Castles etc.

That sounds wonderful!!! Yea we'd definitely just focus on one part. Castles & cliffs sound great.
