Irish postal strike...

Irish postal strike...

FYI...We sent out our Irish invites out early b/c that really is going to decide how many other invites are sent out. Anyway, we just got about 90% of them back return to sender...when we asked the post office...they told us about the strike and that there was nothing they could do about it. Luckily a lot of them did not get stamped in the US so we don't have to pay again for them but all of them have a huge return to sender stamp as well as a big sticker that covers the majority of the address. Just thought I'd share so this does not happen to anyone else...suppossedly the strike is meant to end soon.

That's terrible!!! Is there any way you can peel the sticker off and cover up the 'return to sender' stamp so you can resend them when the strike it over? I feel so bad for you!

I used to work for the Post Office. On a certain day during the year they will give you credit for things like this. I'm not sure of how much or when the day is, but it sure can help out. Give them a call and see what they say.

If it helps it's over now. Apparently it was only in Dublin & Wicklow (according to my husband)

That really stinks! We sent our out 5 months before the wedding 'just in case.'

I hope the post office helps you out. So you have extra envelopes?
