Does anyone have a good recipe? Although I'm only 1/8 Irish, everyone is a Irish on St. Patricks Day!! Unfortunately, here on the west coast (at least in my area) there isn't a big deal made out of the holiday. I figured that I'd make this for my class. About 85% of my class is either from China or India, and I'm sure they've never tried it. I've found some recipes online, but i'm not sure if they're any good. Thanks in advance for your help!!!!!

Re: Irish Soda Bread
Here is my mothers recipe: Ingredients 1 1/2 cups of buttermilk 1 1/4 cup of raisins (best way is soak raisins in water the night before makes them plump) 1 cup of sugar 1 egg 1 teaspoon of baking soda 1 teaspoon of salt 2 teaspoon of melted butter 2 teaspoons of baking powder 4 cups of Flour
Instructions Combine all ingredients in a big bowl. Mix with your hands. cook @ 350 degrees for an hour When done wrap in dish towel & cool on it's side (I put it on the dish tray) this will make either 1 big loaf or 2 med size loafs.
