Irregular cycles when ttc.

I always had problems with my AF and had to take BCP to control my cycles. I haven't been on BCP for about 2 1/2 years. My cycles are different every month. For example this month on day 21 I am spotting and will have a few days of that until AF arrives. Then next month I may have a 27 day cycle with a couple of days of spotting before AF.
This could be why I am not getting pregnant. Is there any meds a dr would put me on to help this while ttc?
(I have an 11 1/2 month old daughter but I would like to give her a brother or sister.No luck so far for 8 months ttc.)

Have you tried charting your cycles with the fertility awareness method? i just read 'taking charge of my fertility' and it goes into detail about irregular cycles and ttc.

I have the book. I can't take my temps every morning because I have an 11 1/2 month old daughter who has me waking up at all hours during the night and my sleep is totally off.
I was trying to see what it says in there about irregular cycles. I think it said that sometimes drs recommend Clomid.

yes, it often is prescribed for irregular cycles/ovulation. clomid info

My Dr gave me Clomid because I was getting it anywhere from day 33 to 37. He said anything past 35 days my body was probably not even ovulating. Have you been using an Ovulation Predictor Kit?

I have used an ovulator predictor kit before but didn't have any luck getting pregnant so I haven't used it since.

I was just prescribed Clomid - I've been trying for about 7 months now - but b/c I got pregnant so quickly the 1st time - I want to the doctor - he told me that this should regualte ovulation - (I fibbed a little) and said I've been trying almost a year.

Start CHARTING your cycle. Charting helps you understand what your body is going through. It teaches you signs that health class never taught you.

BTW - How is your thyroid? Have you ever had it checked out?
