Is a 2nd photographer worth it?

Original post by Katie&Chris2006

I'm debating whether or not we should have a 2nd photographer. Any thoughts? Is it worth it?

totally worth it - we had 2 photographer and a videographer - the very best money we spent for the whole wedding.

Hi Date twin!! I wrestled with this idea too. I ended up getting a second photographer for the first five hours and then one photographer for the rest of the reception. I really wanted photojournalistic looks in my pictures.

I'm doing the same thing. I wasn't sure if it's worth it at first but, my mom pointed out that the pictures are something you will have forever.

Check out Lanikai's (sp?) photos. I think the shots of when they see each other for the first time makes it all worth it.

i WOULD DEF LIKE TO SEE HER PHOTOS, WHERE CAN i FIND THEM?

Our photographer only does two also. We didn't consider it ahead of time but now that I know the reasons why, I'm glad.

They are shooting both film and digital, black & white and color. So getting similar shots in multiple forms of media is something we liked.

Her 'partner' photographer will be doing the portraits right after the ceremony while she takes photojournalistic type photos and candids. We have 7 kids ranging in age from 2 to 14 in our bridal party and they all love to be photographed, so I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunity for candids.

Of all the things we spent money on (besides the reception), we spent the most on photography. It's very important to us since we're amateur photographers ourselves. She also agreed to give us all the original digital files ('RAW' files) on a DVD with the proofs. That makes them suitable for enlarging and reprinting at our leisure.

Sorry, I'm rambling. But this is one of the biggest decisions we made for the wedding.

Yes, definitely...

I had two photographers and I am so glad I did. One photographer took all portrait shots and the other took all candids/photojournalistic shots, I LOVE my proofs!!
