Re: Is a cake topper really that necessary??
We didn't use a cake topper. We had the swans sitting in front of my cake. First reason, we didn't have one, cause I couldn't find one that I loved. Second reason, it would take away from the decoration on the top of the cake. And the last reason was since I was having each of our parents wedding day pictures on the table, I didn't want to much stuff to look at on the table.

I didn't want one until my mom pulled her's out from her wedding 25+ years ago, and then I decided I wanted my own to show my daughter some day. I ordered one that looks like me and my FH, recommended by a bride on LIW.

I wanted a cake topper. DW didn't.
We ended up not getting one and doing it with flowers.
I am not hating life over not having a cake topper... so its all good.
Flowers are fine.

We didn't plan on having one, but at the last minute, decided to get the one in my avatar photo. It was sort of a tribute to my dad, and the people who were close to me and my family understood why we did it, so it was a nice touch.

we didn't use one. We used ribbon to make a bow since it was a christmas themed wedding.
