I'm getting married on NYE which falls on a Thursday. We're having the rehearsal dinner on the Sunday before so it will only be immediate family and the bridal party.
Is it a must to have invites? I originally was thinking just talking to everyone about it was fine, but now I'm thinking we'll need invites. If so are hand written fine or do you need to go all out formal like the wedding invites?

i ordered mine cheap from vista print.com
i did it only b/c i didn't want to hear 'well u never told me'
We just booked our rehearsal dinner last week, so I just sent an e-vite or they wouldn't have gotten the invite in time.

Thanks! I still have plenty of time to decide, but it's good to know you can go either way about the invites

Re: Is an physical invite necessary...
In retrospect, I probably should have. . .FMIL lost the e-mail addresses for my BMs and they didn't know about the time and venue change until about a week before the wedding!!!! Physical invites would have cleared up all of that confusion.

Re: Is a physical invite necessary...
It's not necessary but we thought it would be nice to do invitations. I actually made them myself to match my T*ssa invites. I bought the same papers and did them with my computer... Here's a pic:
