Is anyone......

Is anyone......

Going for photos before their ceremony??

I'm concerned that I won't have enough time between the ceremony and the reception...

I know some people prefer to take the pics before the ceremony, but then doesn't that spoil the surprise of your FI seeing you w/ your dress for the first time at the ceremony??

Can anyone shead some light Thanks..

Re: Is anyone......

That is the question i myself have been wrestiling with recently. at first i thought pictures before the ceremony was good because then we can go to the cocktail hour and enjoy ourselves and not have to worry about crying during the ceremony ruining my makeup and all of those practical things. But then I recently starting thinking how romantic and wonderful it would be to walk down that aisle and have him see me for the first time in my beautiful gown with my hair nd makeup all pretty....to see the look on his face and the love in his eyes....
I've been a little sappy lately so maybe that's what my problem is. It's a tough choice. We're having or cocktail hour immediately following our ceremony - so we don't have a lot of time to play around with. But my photographer also told me that pictures generally take no longer than 40 minutes....so if we do some before and some after....it might work.
Let me know what you decide so I can decide!

Re: Is anyone......

Hi,

We are taking all our pictures before our ceremony. I thought the same thing that doing that would 'spoil' the surprise of him seeing me for the first time. After talking to many photographers they assured me that the moment I walk down the aisle it will still be special. We are setting up a 'moment' with the photographer and videographer so my FH's reaction is captured.

I am very happy we decided to do this. I am usually nervous when it comes to big events so knowing that I can share my special moment along with my FH instead of in front of 100 people makes me feel a lot better. Also we are having our ceremony at our hall and do not want to miss our cocktail hour. Good luck!

Our reception is immediately after the ceremony..but we dont want to see each other before hand..so I will have all of my pics with my girls and family first..then we'll kick back and have some Mimosas, while my fiance is off haveing his pictures taken..this way after the ceremony, our guests will go to the cocktail hour, the cocktail hour will also be brought to us while we having our together pictures taken..I dont mind at all..as long as Im eating and drinking..Ill just be so happy..then we will go in and be introduced and let the real party begin! I think it will work out fine.

We are taking ours pics after, but a firend of mine did them befor enad she said it was the best part of her wedding. DH got to see her for the first time alone and tellher how amazing she looked. They got to enjoy eachother's company b4 the rush of people and calm her nerves. Only thing is I think her dress got a little drty on the photo excursion. Hope this helps

Thanks for your help girls....

I'm leaning more towards taking them after the ceremony, but it's such a hard decision to make...

I would love to see FH before it all, but I just can't give up the surprise at the alter. I am doing my parents and me before, and girls in BP outside at a local park (PRAY FOR NICE WEATHER)

Re: Is anyone......

The photographer is coming to my house before the ceremony to take pictures, but I will not be taking any with FH and his family until after the ceremony. I am so into the surprising him with the doors of the Church opening and him seeing me for the first time!

I also should say though we have about an hour and a half gap and the hall is 5 minutes from the Church. We are going directly there and taking pictures at the hall.

I saw this is on a wedding story and we are going to do this. We will take pictures before hand but not see each other before. I want that suprise of him seeing me. But to get the pics of dale with bridesmaid and family he will be sequestered in the basement until the pics are ready to be taken and vice versa.

we're taking pics together beforehand. Our ceremony is at hall, and we don't want to miss cocktail hour (best part of a wedding) We're not superstitious and it will still be a special moment when he first sees me. And it WILL still be special when I walk down the aisle.

We are doing photos before our ceremony. We decided that we wanted to be able to enjoy our cocktail hour, and mingle with the guests. We have a lot of out-of-towners coming, whom we never see, so we decided it was more important to see them, then to wait til after the ceremony to take pics. It also made more sense for us because we want to be able to have some time together before the wedding, calming each other down (because I KNOW both of our famlies will be driving us crazy!)

We decided to see each other before bc my fiance really didn't want to miss the cocktail hour..My photographer is still going to set up for the special moment so it will be just the two of us at first

We're doing photos before the ceremony - we're getting married at the reception site...and the photographer will be setting up the first moment with just FH & me - to capture our expressions. I still think the moment of me walking down the aisle will be romantic and special for us - and our guests.
