Is anyone altering their 'Aunt FLo' for the wedding? If so how?

Original post by marc_rai

I don't know if I stated that right, but one of my friends was telling me that if I don't want to get my menstrual cycle that I should take my birth control continiously? I'm in grad school and our school health center really *****, but I was wondering if anyone else might know more about it. I'm on the birth control patch and my wedding is in July. She was saying that I should just leave my patch on instead of going a week off.

Is anyone else doing something like this?

I put a patch on during my 'off' week. Then I took it off the following week when we got back to NY.

I would not skip for 2 months in a row. You should ask your GYN if it's safe to skip two months. I just saw mine on 2/25 but did not bring this up with her.

Thanks.

Also for girls not on the pill...Your gyno can prescibe a pill that will postpone your period until after your wedding. It is 1 pill a night until you want your period to start. It is called Prometrium. I was talking with my gyno about the same issue.

Thank you so much. I was on the pill for years, but I went off of it about a year ago. I really don't want to go on it again. They say you should go off about a year before you want to have kids and well, I don't know when we are going to start but probably sooner than later, so why mess with that. I figured I was SOL, but thanks, I guess not!!!

Yep - It's Ok. I've done it about three times. LOL usually when I go on vacation and stuff.
It works and it's not a health hazard.

Hey Ladies,

I made an appointment yesterday to talk to the Health Practioner and we figured out what I need to do. She suggested that for the next two months I don't go without a patch for a week. She said that it's good that I came to see her because some females have light bleeding and cramps (like you ladies said) so she said I can test it out first. So for the month of March and April I should not get my period and then I go back on my regular schedule and my period should come 2 weeks after my wedding. If I want I can even skip it in July, but I don't think I will.

It's the same as when you are on the pill, wear the patch even when you're on you're off week in order to skip your cycle.

OK- so today I woke up with the WORST cramps I have ever had... and it was the END of week 1... so I called the 800 number for the patch, and asked them If I can STOP taking it, and jut rip off the patch, and NOT put another one on... and they said yes, so I did not put the week 2 patch on this week... I don't think I liked it..

My question is , Since I was only on the patch for 1 week, amd I going to get AF this week??? or just some break-through, but still be on my regular schedule? or will this start a new cycle today?

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
why did I have to go messing with my biology?!?
