Is anyone altering their 'Aunt FLo' for the wedding? If so how?

I don't know if I stated that right, but one of my friends was telling me that if I don't want to get my menstrual cycle that I should take my birth control continiously? I'm in grad school and our school health center really *****, but I was wondering if anyone else might know more about it. I'm on the birth control patch and my wedding is in July. She was saying that I should just leave my patch on instead of going a week off.

Is anyone else doing something like this?

Yes, it's fine to do it, I just cleared it with my gyno during my last visit. If you're on the patch, you would just continue on to the next patch to alter it.

However, I would recommend doing it now or in the next month or two. You may get some breakthrough bleeding or nausea if you've never done it before. This way, if you do it now, that won't be an issue for your wedding.

I JUST started the patch on SUNDYA!!!

I was on it last year, but It made me MOODY, so I have FH on the lookout for the MOOD! (his response, was 'how will I tell the difference?!' ) but I REALLY don't want to get it that day!

Our HM is the FOLLOWING friday after the wedding, so as of now, I have it planned that week 3 is wedding (friday) then Sunday I go off it, hopefully get '.' on Wed, be done by Fri/Sat when I leave, this way the following 2 weeks on HM i'm good to go!

hey sue!!!!!!!!!! i'm on the patch too!!!!!!!!

it's funny. on the patch i always get on wednesday and it's done usually by sunday. instead of getting it wednesday morning when i got up i got it wednesday night. to me, i felt i'd rather get it before than put it off a week and have it after. in fact when i get back from the hm, i might take a fourth patch to get an extra week out of it

yeah, I would get it on Wed also...

I think i'm going to Skip 2 off weeks (April and May) so that I'll now get it the week BEfore the wedding... is it SAFE to skip your '.' 2 months in a row, or should I do it April, then June... not May??

does anyone know?

I obvioulsy know you're not MD's and i'm not 'following' your advise, just curious... ha ha... don't want anyone to get held liable for wrong 'Medical Advise'

Also for girls not on the pill...Your gyno can prescibe a pill that will postpone your period until after your wedding. It is 1 pill a night until you want your period to start. It is called Prometrium. I was talking with my gyno about the same issue.

It isn't birth control..It is a hormone supplement. Acts similar to birth control in that it supplies you with a hormone (Progesterone) to sort of 'fake' your body into not menstrating. It is 1 pill for how ever many days you want to postpone AF.

My gyno gave me 2 refills...one to 'test out' before the wedding and one is I do decide to do it for the wedding.

The side effects are very similar to birth control pills:

Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, inform your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Prometrium.

More common side effects may include:
Abdominal cramping, back pain, bloating, breast tenderness or pain, chest pain, constipation, coughing, depression, diarrhea, dizziness, emotional instability, fatigue, headache, hot flashes, irritability, joint pain, muscle pain, nausea, night sweats, swelling of hands and feet, upper respiratory infection, urinary problems, vaginal discharge, vaginal dryness, viral infection, vomiting, worry

... This is so funny, I was just figuring this out the other day, and i am scheduled to get mine during my honeymoon... I am on the pill and was debating on stopping it for a few months to through off my schedule or just take my pill straight through. I did this once, a looonnngg time ago and it worked, but I felt bloated and fat...

Help me answer this question, If I stop my pill after two weeks, is it true I will get my period early, and then just start a new pack like normal when it ends???

One of the girls wrote this but I am confused a bit????

I used the patch and altered my cycle for a vacation.

Just be warned ----- I NEVER had any pain before I altered it and the next month I was doubled over for at least a few hours. It got back to normal the following month. Of course, AFTER the pain, my friends who had alter their cycles told me to expect the cramping.

Did you stop the patch Early, or Put week 1 on during the 'week off'?
I am goign to keep going, so I will Skip '.'.
so I think i'll do it April, and then June... to be back to normal after for July...

Should I NOT do it for April AND May, right in a row with no '.' for 2 months?
