IS ANyone Buying a House & Planning a wedding at the same time???? HELP

I am moving to Florida after the wedding with my FH. ( He works the family business in Miami and I knew I Had to move if we were to stay together) ANYWAY, A couple of weeks ago we went house hunting, Not thinking we would buy ahouse this soon, but the otherday a lady that owns the house we love accepted our offer!!!! Now I am getting worried about planning the wedding and getting the house!!!

I need some way to get rid of the stress. Any ideas???

can you scale back the wedding any?
& still have yr dream day

Buying a home is for the long term & if you can get a GOOD offer now - try to budget & see if both are do-able.

Thanks ladies, I feel the same way. I am trying to make some choice re: scaling back the wedding, but it is hard.....

We are doing the exact same thing...We just started house hunting 2 weeks ago..We said if we find what we are looking for, then we must cut back on the wedding...The house is more a priority then ave this extravagent wedding

Nope, and I couldn't even imagine doing so. Luckily w have a house that is already paid for. Yippeee!!!

Thanks ladies, I realy have to figure out where our money has to go and then pay less for the things we have left over. I still have flowers, invitations, to do for the big stuff. We just figured out what we are going to use for our centerpieces and I love them. We found these bowls at IKEA of all places for $10 each and we are going to put a candle in the center with a wreath of this stuff tat looks like berries. Sounds ugly, but looks great. If I can take a pic I will put it on the board.

Any ideas of cutting down on cost are greatly appreciated...

word travels & you may can get some discouts on some things ie limos

Just a thought - you may want to rent yr dress etc. Grooms rent their tux - Brides can rent beautiful dresses

Can someone make the bo-ks & u buy all the flowers whoesale???

Just some ideas so you can get the house

I'm doing both...we are actually meeting with our lawyer on tuesday to go over the contract. we knew that we would be doing this so we have been saving...the wedding has been paid for, well at least the money is all there. we were fortunate to have my parents help us out a lot, and then when his parents leaerned that we almost weren't going to buy a house they are helping us as well.

we are just scared because i won't be working full time next year. that is what we are more worried about...well i am...my fi is confident that we can do it, and i am trusting his judgement on it.

Thanks, I don;t have to worry about hte dress, my mom and Dad are paying for it. As for the flowers, we are able to cut it down because we are getting married the Friday after Easter, so the Church is already full of Flowers. So that saves money. It will work out in the end....

And after all, the house lasts a lot more than just one day.... RIGHT??

FYI IN Asisa most have a5yr,10,20 & 40 yr plan

Think of it as such. Your home is the best invsmnt you could ever make. - YEs we all want our dream wedding - but that is 1 day vs 30 yrs. Market prieces are great so if u change yr mind in afew years you will have value to work with.

IF what u saw is worth it - talk with FH & work out the details.

I have been doing this since January and I am not going to lie to you and say it isnt stressful but you have to stay organized and know how to delegate. The house for me was the most important part. The one good thing for me was, once the contracts were signed there wasnt much else to do but provide paperwork to the mtge broker. My FI and I make sure we spend one night a week (not living together yet) just us and no conversations about the house or wedding. Feel free to FM me.

I am still trying to figure out the #'s and see if we can afford to do a 30-$40grand wedding and put a downpayment on the house. I don't want to move into an apt and have to move again 6mths later.

Our parents are unable to help us althought would love too so we are doing it on our own. I just don't want to worry about us eating pb&j and pasta for the next 20 years b/c we went over our heads.

I don't worry about the actual leg work involved with the wedding and house buying it is more of a can we afford it and live the life that we are used too.

We bought a house while planning the wedding... now that we've moved in, and the wedding is 4 months away... well, let's just say, it puts everything in perspective... we're still having a beautiful wedding day, but really, it's one day, and spending $20k instead of $40k doesn't make the day any less beautiful or meaningful... having a house is forever, and it places you in such a stable position for the future because you'[ll be paying equity into something for yourselves.. once you're in the market, buying from that point forth will be so much easier...

We're not buying a house, but we have been in the process of renovating my parents basement apartment. It has been VERY stressful, but it needed to get done, so we'd have somewhere to live after the wedding.

We bought our house after we got engaged in 2002 and saved up for the wedding. I don't know if pushing back the wedding date is an option but doing both can be done. U will just have to get a little creative!
