Is anyone doing anything in their ceremony in rememberance of a deceased relative?
I want to do something at the ceremony for my brother who passed away. I can't so a candle b/c the ceremony is on the beach and the wind could possibly blow it out. Any other suggestions?

You can do a candle.. just place the candle in a hurricane glass..
if not, how about dedicating the ceremony to those that are deceased in your program? or haev the priest/rabbi say a few words..

Play a song or do a reading in his honor. I am doing a candle for my brother and a song he liked while we light it. Using the hurricane lamp would work on the beach.

Our priest is going to mention a dear friend of ours that passed away right before we began dating.
He is going to do this at the end of the Homily.

I used placecard frames and had on my dad's table a picture of my grandmother, grandfather and dog that passed away... on my mom's table I had 4 different pictures of my grandfather that passed, on my in-laws table I had pictures of his four grandparents, and on our table there was a picture of his friend that passed away. It was a subtle touch that went a long way and they were all touched by it and loved them!!!

We may also release the doves in her name.... I'm not sure yet b/c this is an italian tradition that is meant to bring luck, so it kinda conflicts with our culture. We'll see

My Florist is making me a dozen white roses for me and FH to place in front of mary's statue for my Grandma who passed away 4 years ago. The Decon who is marring us is also saying a short prayer for her before we bring the roses up.

My father passed away 2 weeks before my wedding. Since it was so close, we wanted to be subtle. In our program, in the thank you we wrote, we made mention to those who passed. It was touching. We had a candle for my father in the church and I carried a small picture of him in my bouquet. Nobody could really see it but me. At the reception we had the candle also. I danced with my mother to Josh Groban's 'Where You Are' and everyone in the place cried. Then, our second to last song was Janet Jackson 'Together Again'.
Re: Is anyone doing anything in their ceremony in rememberance of a deceased relative?
we mentioned DH's father and our grandparents in the program...
in addition we choice as day that was special to DH's father and wrote about the day (trying to keep the mood up)
also my grandfather had passed away less than 2 weeks before...so I gave his bout to my cousin (his only grandson) to wear...
DH and MIL danced to In My Life, by the Beatles...it was very fitting for the situation

We are having a memory table. As of right now (but this could change at anytime) my mom, fmil, and dad's GF will be coming up at the beginning of the ceremony to light a candle for each side of the family.
During the reception we will have a memory table, with pcitures of them.

The florist is also making me an honorary boutineere for my brother. I am going to pick it up the day before and bring it to the cemetary.

I read a poem about my grandma prior to tossing the bouquet.

instead of doing the unity candle, we had pics of our deceased grandmothers at the statue of Mary, and we walked over during ave maria and placed roses there, then walked to our living grandmothers and gave them a rose also. The [priest explained this, and it was also written out in the program. Also in the lord's prayer they were mentioned along with other deceased relatives.
