is anyone doing their own makeup?

i had my makeup trial and i hated what they did... do u think i would be ok with going to mac,,,,getting a trial and purchasing the makeup to do myself the wedding day???? everyone i know tells me that i cant do my own it wont show in pics ,, but id rather my makeup not show than look ugly in pics??
just wondering what if most people do get makeup done professionally

I am most likely going to do my own with the help of 2 of my bm's. they begged to do my makeup for my wedding. i said, sure why not!!!
Saves me some money!
