10 months to go. Just over one thousand dollars a month to come up with to get close to my budget. Not to mention find an apt. Pay off a few bills and think about the Honeymoon. So that's what? Just over two thousand a month I need to budget...
God help me I don't even have money for Gas!!!!
Still I have a trip to Buffalo I need to make in March and a trip to Pittsburg in June I have to go to.
ACK!!!!!

PUH-LEEZE....Let's not talk about the money...I get physically sick to my stomach when I think about it....we have car payments on 2 cars, my student loan...and then the wedding!! Good thing we're living with his parents to save some $$$, but it's still not enough!

Re: Is anyone else freaking out about the money???
We live with his parents but pay $250 in rent. I know it SEEMS like nothing but that bugs me. Damn it im his WIFE for crying out loud. In 10 months $250 is $2,500 that I could USE for a place to live!!!
The only reason I've stopped pestering Jim about is, that in the process of readjusting our expenses and saving literally THOUSANDs of dollars on his insurance premiums for his car, I ended up adding his brother to his mother's insurance. That's going to cost HER thousands of dollars a year, cause his brother is an idiot behind the wheel. Personally I think that his brother is 26. He should get his OWN damned insurance. But with that extra bill on her, I can't stomach asking to drop my $250. BAH
Bad enough I've already decided that I need to 'reassess' our situtation in May. If need be I will be forced to get a second job.
I can't HELP but think about money. I alone am paying for this wedding cause I wanted it. Jim isn't/can't contribute anything much and the families aren't helping. I feel just 'slightly' drowned by the magnitude of it all.

Would you classify waking up in the middle of the night in a panic as freaking out?? If so...then yes I'm freaking out too. And what drives me batty is that FH is so calm and laid back and says 'Sweetie....we'll be fine, don't worry.'
AliciaHelene....I can't wait to be in Honolulu sipping a trpical drink thinking 'ahhh that wasn't soo bad!'

Ive cut every corner you can imagine. Sounds stupid but neither car has been washed in about a year (for me that's big) and we no longer change the oil in his car (another no-no in my book). We use my car more (more gas efficent) and all we eat these days are pasta at home (its cheap). Trust me.. corners are being cut. But with the March and June trips I guess I don't have to go the June trip but it's our get away to keep us sane. I must go to the one in March though no way around it.
I've gone so far as to work my butt to the bone so that Im noticed. I just *MAY* get a $300 expense credit I can use to pay for my March trip if I keep kicking butt and working hard. Every penny counts.

That's the OTHER thing that's freaking me out. Jim's citizenship. Can we travel to Mexico on only a Green card? That mayhem begins in one day when my retainer for my attorney becomes effective. Let him figure it out!!

Re: Is anyone else freaking out about the money???
Yes.
It's mainly because I'd like to start SAVING some instead of constantly going through it. I'm so bad with money.
And then there's the situation with FILs wanting to contribute only a little to the costs of the wedding, which puts my parents off significantly. My parents have made tons of effort to include them, but they never return the correspondence. Mom doesn't want their names on the invitations, but FH feels like they should be at least listed as his parents, if not hosts (so it doesn't look like he randomly materialized). I'm in the middle, and while I agree with my parents, I really want to keep things as smooth as possible.
I'm with you guys in Mexico and Hawaii, except I'm on the Disney Cruise Ship sipping a Frozen Mudslide in a Bikini (which I will be able to wear for the honeymoon, G-d as my witness!), thinking, Thank Goodness I don't have to deal with anything this week!

Re: Is anyone else freaking out about the money???
I get out the calculator almost daily to figure out how much we have, how much we still have to spend and how much more we'll be able to save. Thank goodness I still live at home and am able to budget my money because otherwise there would not be a wedding! Tom can't save money because he doesn't make all that much of it and because he's terrible with it (i'll be taking over once we move in together). It makes me so nervous...but I know that somehow it will all work itself out......i hope!

Re: Is anyone else freaking out about the money???
I started having 50% of my paycheck deposited directly into our 'wedding' account so I could stop freaking out about not doing enough saving. It really has helped, except now I always feel broke!
Just think, with luck we'll all get back a good deal of this money in gifts......

Re: Is anyone else freaking out about the money???
I shouldn't complain, b/c our parents offered to help, but we are trying to do it on our own and just found out yesterday (on his birthday)that FH's car needs major repairs & may need to be replaced entirely.
How do we go back & say, oh, remeber when we said no thanks, well, know we could really use some help paying for the wedding.
FMIL wants to buy us a substantial engagement gift--I'm wondering if a car counts. . .

It has been done before.
I wish my parents could help. But they can't. I know that. Wishing they could won't make it happen. Rubbing it in that they can't isn't helpful either so I just try not to bring up money to my dad.
Well at least I know from this I aint the only poor $ucker! hehe
Hey maybe we can all get together and make PB&J Sandwiches.. lol

Re: Is anyone else freaking out about the money???
I am freaking out also. I still don't know how much FH parents are contributing. I have asked FH to talk to them bc I don't feel comfortable doing it myself. On Sun, his mother asked if we are going to use some of the money they give us to pay for the HM. I wanted to say, well how much is that? but I didnt. I think that it's a conversation that he should have with his parents like I did with mine.
