Is anyone else freaking out about the money???

Original post by Xelindrya

10 months to go. Just over one thousand dollars a month to come up with to get close to my budget. Not to mention find an apt. Pay off a few bills and think about the Honeymoon.
So that's what? Just over two thousand a month I need to budget...

God help me I don't even have money for Gas!!!!

Still I have a trip to Buffalo I need to make in March and a trip to Pittsburg in June I have to go to.

ACK!!!!!

Try to breath!!
It will be ok. You should have already planned a budget for this wedding and if not, start now. If you budget your money correctly all will work out. I have to pay 2,000 a month for my reception hall then other expenses. I dont know how i manage but i do and so will you.
Try to keep positive all will work out.

Luckily - my parents and I have the entire wedding covered. FMILs said she wanted to contribute. Just would like to know how much out of curiousity.

i freak out everyday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have a second job from 4:30-6:30 3 days a week. i am a teacher with lots of student loans to repay, plus all of the other expenses. plus i pay rent and live with my fh. he contributes to the wedding fund too. its hard, but we save about $1500 a month this way. we are fortunate to have some help from our parents but we are responsible for paying for half of the wedding. we have to save $20,000 by next november!!

I make a new budget daily. I have nightmares about the money and the deposits and how much it is all going to cost. It makes me crazy that I feel bad for my FH sometimes because he has to deal with me crying poverty all the time. I know in the end it will all be worth it. But it is tough. Everything is so dang expensive.

Me and FH sat down and wrote down everything we have paid for and everything that still needs to be paid for and I almost threw up all over him.

We have to save at least $25000 by next November (10 Months).

I will be eating PB & J on freakin crackers for the next 10 months

I just sat down the other day and almost had a heart attack, we need to come up with $13,000 for my wedding which is in 5 months and that is just cash, we have another $10,000 that is going to have to go on my cc. It isn't physically possible to save over $2000 a month so I haven't figured out what we are going to do, neither of our parents are helping us, it is all on my fiance.

I know what you mean. 9mos to go and we have to pay for the wedding, and we want to try and buy a house and he announces he wants to go on the gambling boat tomorrow night with friends. I dont know how he isnt stressing out, but I wish he would.

Yeah, everyday!
I've been working 7 days a week since May, sometimes 16 hr shifts to make the money we need. I'm exhausted, but it gives me some peace of mind. I'd rather work like this than totally sweat the finances.
Like everyone says, it works out. It is hard though, isn't it?

Ladies, I hear your pain and I feel it...

Here's my story. I have a mortgage to pay, car insurance, car garage and credit card expenses, not to mention the other small particulars.

FH and I do not live together. He lives in LI, while I live in the Bronx. We are paying for the wedding ourselves. My parents cannot help... no money; and his parents are deceased. Our wedding is in 8 months, and we still have to come up with $25MM.

We have not been able to save money because my FH has been really ill, and have not been able to go to work (he's a police officer).

To help speed things along, my FH will have to move in with me, which it will only make economical sense. He's paying $1000 a month for rent, which is insane. And I am paying on my mortgage.

It is certainly rough. I have terrible wedding nightmares.

I try not to allow this to stress me because i know this too, like everything else, will pass. I will encounter much large obstacles along the way. But, I must admit that it's hard not to worry if you are going to make it... and it's frightening.

I wish you ladies much luck.

Going into all the details freaks me out, but lets just say I know what you are talking about ; )

Re: Is anyone else freaking out about the money???

I just wanted to offer a hug to all of you who are paying for this yourselves. I don't know what I'd do if we had to do that!

My grandmother refinanced her house - of course, I'm co-financing it - I OWN her house now, haha, but she gave me $5000 towards the wedding - thank God! Of course, if she didn't want to invite the entire world (re: my family), I would have a small wedding in a restaurant somewhere...

My father *should* give us another 2 - he's already given us 1...

My FILs have promised us 3 - and I thought that wasn't fair, until I read on these boards how other peoples FIL aren't giving them anything. Of course, our wedding has to be kosher because of them, and that added a huge expense, but whatever...

My mom is a seamstress and is making all the dresses and bought my material. She's also said she wants to give me $500, but that's ridiculous, she has 2 kids (my brothers).

My total budget is $16000, so we're in for about $5-6000 maybe.

We're really lucky. I've been stressing because my FI is a freelance writer and his paychecks aren't steady at all, but we have great families.

I've also worked my but off trying to find vendors who are cheap and good, and that's been a huge moneysaver. Here's my website:

Budget Vendors

Good luck everyone!

Freaking out??? That is such an understatement in my case!!! As I've mentioned before, I've been engaged since May. FH lost his job the day after he bought my ring!!! Today is exactly 8 months that he has been unemployed. We don't live together, he gave up his apt and moved back home.He contributes what he can from his unemployment checks, but still the majority of expenses fall on me. And we are paying for this wedding ourselves!! So i am constantly stressed and prya everyday that he finds a job asap!!!!

Even before all of this wedding planning all I did was stress about money! Now I just stress even more!
I hope all this stress will at least help me loose some weight! LOL!!!!

We have 1 month to go and I am freaking about the money. We have so many little extras to get and they are adding up!! I told FH we are officially poor, all money, other than money needed to pay our bills, needs to go straight into the bank!!

Unless you are born into money or independently wealthy (neither of which my fiance or I am) its inevitable that you stress about the money involved with a wedding...

I'm fortunate that we are having something small; but yet we are paying for everthing ourselves and even a SMALL wedding costs a lot!

However, I cannot complain about anything .. when I read some of the other posts I know I am fortunate. In the end, I think it will all be worth it! (lord I Hope So!! )

But it feels good to vent about it.

Im just freaking out because I set myself up to pay things off first THEN the wedding. So NO MONEY is going to the wedding until Feb.

That gives me 7months to pay things off. It's scary.
