Is anyone else having trouble deciding..
on photographers? I thought I found a company I liked (and I still do like them..) I am just bugging out - I want to make the right decision! I posted before that I don't think we have the rights to our photos but we do have a hi-res cd (8x10 size) with all the images ... but it's kind of freaking me out now! I can't decide! Ahhhh!I would love to use our engagement photographer BUT he is a nurse now so I don't think he is too sure of his work scheduling. Also he is just one photographer.
How did you pick girls? I feel like I want to meet with a few more companies to make sure. I am super indecisive.

Re: Is anyone else having trouble deciding..
I am using Laura Pennace of Pennace Photography and we knew instantly we wanted to book her. We researched her work and I actually knew someone who used her before (coincidentally I found their photos on her site and they raved about her!) We did not meet with anyone else.We had a certain look we want to achieve on our big day and just booked who we knew would produce that for us.
Good luck!! You'll make the right decision.

It took us a while to figure out what we wanted. We met with 4 photographers after narrowing down a ton of other options. We were ultimately really happy with who we chose and we were happy with our engagement photos. We didnt really quite understand rights to photos when we were deciding we just figured it was something we should have, and do.

I'm booking with JayLim too, I loved his work and his prices were in my budget. I know it's a hard decision but after going to other photographers we knew we wanted them. Who have you seen?

Same here. I did A LOT of online research looking at portfolios when I could and jaylim was my favorite.. We met with him first and both loved him so we booked right then and there

I knew who I wanted to book right away. They were really out of my price range, but I decided that photography was really important to me so I cut costs in other places and put the money there. It's definitely a tough decision when so much money is involved though. Best of luck!!

We started by looking at websites and narrowed it down to 3 photographers we actually looked at, plus my we had my brother's wedding pictures to look at and I was in his wedding so we compared with that company too. Photographer/Videographer was really important to us so we did not want want to cut corners. Before we went to actually meet with the photographers FH and I discussed what were the most important things to us in a photographer and the packages/services offered. We also had our families come with to give input too to help us decide. In the end we went with the photographer that we felt matched the style we were going for, had the quality of photos we wanted, had packages that fit our needs, and we 'meshed' well with. If your stuck you can always set up another appointment and go back to meet with them again. You'll figure it all out!

Park Avenue Studio in Sayville! I think we got a great price on photo/video and Brian the owner (who we booked!) explained the high-res and rights before I even had to ask so I felt comfortable trusting him. They also had photos from so many venues and I loved their work!

I do all of my research online first. I look at their samples/galleries and then their prices (sometimes I had to turn to LIW for this). If they are out of the budget, they are out of the running before I have a chance to hear their schpeel or deals they will work out 'just for me'. If they are in the budget, I would analyze the packages, decide what I would need to seal to deal, and of course make sure that I love the work. This is how I went about choosing my photographers, Capture the Moment. I couldnt believe the quality of their product for the price. So I made an appointment, which for me is just a check in to make sure we click, which we totally did. I already knew in my head that they were the right decision, and the meeting confirmed that my heart felt that way too. I never even went to any other meetings, but I couldn't be more excited.
I personally believe that if you have access to all of your photos, you won't have any huge regrets because you can always do whatever you want with them. Also, I believe in signing the contract for the minimum, because you will have time to decide if you really need that third parent album, or if you really want the extra hours. No vendor will ever turn down more money, so decide on those things later when your head (and probably your wallet) are running the game.

Re: Is anyone else having trouble deciding..
Yes! I feel like its the most important decision.I got a bunch of suggestions from friends, and started doing heavy research on their styles, location, etc. I'm also looking to see if these photographers have shot at my venue already, so I can get an idea of what mine will turn out like if I decide to go with that photographer.
I have three appointments scheduled already, my first being today, but its all going to be a combination of price, style and making us feel as comfortable as possible, given that I'm an awkward picture taker and he's not photogenic, at all.
FH and I are not the 'gazing into each other's eyes' type, so the pictures have to be fun, candid and cute and we are looking for someone with that kind of style, for the right price of course. :)We are looking at Fred Marcus Photography and Studio 27. I've also heard wonderful things about Patken! :)

Amanda from complete wedding packages in East Meadow. They gave us an amazing package and we get all rights to photos and don have to pay extra which pretty much helped me make my choice on top of it.

We met a few photographers at a showcase and immediately were drawn to Silverfox. We were shooting the breeze with one of their photographers for quite some time and just felt like old friends. We set up an appointment and literally were in there for almost 3 hours!! We booked them on the spot. We felt SOO unbelievably comfortable with them and felt so confident in their abilities. The decision was based on our gut feeling but we just knew it was right for us.Welcome New Vendors
