To know that you'll never be single again? Don't get me wrong, I love FH and couldn't be happier than to spend the rest of my life with him. But I LOVED being single. I loved going out and meeting new men or having guys hit on me and buy me drinks. I love first dates and wondering if the guys going to call. I'll miss hanging out with my friends the day after a night out and dishing about the guys we met and avoiding calls from guys I gave my number to and can't remember why. Single life was so fun and while I'm glad to have met someone who will make me happy always, I think I need to properly mourn the end of that part of my life, which was such a big part of me for so long.

Re: Is anyone else kind of sad...
I was never a big partier, I never dated a lot, so being married isn't going to be too sad. I actually enjoy having someone there all the time now. But I can understand why it is kind of sad. It's closing a door on a part of your life you will never have again, but hopefully there will be other things that will take the place of those happy times.

I totally understand where you are coming from...that's why my b-party is going to be all the things is LOVED about being single...going out, partying, meeting guys to buy me drinks...then taking their number and throwing it AWAY (I've been with my fh for 11 years, so I've never hooked up like that LOL. there's always been a limit!)

not really. I am actually glad about it. I cannot wait to start the next phase of my life. i kind of take a 'been there, done that' kind of attitude. i actually hate going to bars now and feel like I do it b/c I am still young and have to. But every time I am out, I ask myself 'why am I out.' I guess I am a little lame, but I just prefer going out to dinner with my friends and their husbands.

I'm not really sad, but I am definitely not experienced when it comes to notches on my belt. I guess it'll be wierd that I'm always going to be inexperienced when it comes to dating.

I understand and agree. I bought my house before meeting DH and never had it 'all to myself' because my sister lived with me. Now, I'll always have my roomie. The upside, we still have our time to ourselves when we plan it.

I hear ya, although, we do have a hell of a lot more to look forward to in the future.
I read a book recently its called 'What No One Tells the Bride' it talks about all the feelings we may go through while making the transition from single life to engaged life, to married life, to being a mother...and what feelings to expect and how to handle these huge changes in your life. I recommend it, it was a good read!!

Re: Is anyone else kind of sad...
My BF just went on a first date the other night and it went great - she was so excited and when i got off th ephone with her I thought-that will never be me again! In a way-thank goodness-in another way it is sad to think you will never get to go through that again.

Nope, because with all the giddiness comes the frustration....hoping he'll call, waiting to see what happens next, dealing with jerks in bars....
I'm just happy to be settling down.

I don't envy my single friends, though. I see their frustration at wondering if they'll ever find anyone.

Re: Is anyone else kind of sad...
Nope. I've always pretty much had a boyfriend but I went out ALL the time with my friends. I can't say I missed out on a thing. I'm looking forward to getting rid of the single life. I'm more into staying home now cooking dinner, having a glass a wine and watching a movie. Though me and my FI still tend to go out often.

I miss the butterflies from the 1st kiss feeling, but all in all, I hated most of the dates i went on when I was single...
Being engaged hasn't prevented guys from hitting on me.... So I'm sure it'll still happen, but I hate it!!!

Re: Is anyone else kind of sad...
I don't think I'll be sad...FH is my bf and we have our fights and we make up...I can't picture what my life would be without him in it...I think I'm more scared of actually leaving my family...I've been with them for the last 28 years of my life - living under another roof where they're not is what makes me sad...

I was thinking I will miss that rush of meeting someone new- but I get over it when I remember that it wasn't always so great to be single!

Yes and no. I thought being single was so much fun but I've never had something like this before with anyone and I'm really REALLY enjoying being married.
