Is anyone else kind of sad...

Original post by stephanielyse

To know that you'll never be single again?
Don't get me wrong, I love FH and couldn't be happier than to spend the rest of my life with him. But I LOVED being single. I loved going out and meeting new men or having guys hit on me and buy me drinks. I love first dates and wondering if the guys going to call. I'll miss hanging out with my friends the day after a night out and dishing about the guys we met and avoiding calls from guys I gave my number to and can't remember why. Single life was so fun and while I'm glad to have met someone who will make me happy always, I think I need to properly mourn the end of that part of my life, which was such a big part of me for so long.

kind of....I miss the craziness I used to get myself into and all the funny dating stories I had....I really dated some losers in my day!

but, I don't miss the loneliness...

I think that it will be great to begin the next chapter in my life, but it's been making me a bit sad to think about 'leaving'my family Espically that I've lived at home for the past 28 years, and I am an only child and we are very close. That's something that won't ever be the same again..I guess it's all about life, right?

No way, I hated being single. I love being in a relationship and I'm so glad I'm finally in a good one!!

Ya know what's funny, I'm definitely not sad about not being single, but there was a kind of sadness after I got engaged because it's like that's what I was waiting for and then it came and it's amazing, but now there's not that excitement about it anymore. It's all about the wedding now, which will be amazing in a different way.

Anyone else know what I mean?

I've always been a relationship person. I see what my single friends go through with dating and I'm glad I've found someone to spend the rest of my life with. I like the excitement that a new relationship brings, but I prefer feeling settled and secure. I couldn't wait to be married.

No. I went to a 'singles' place for a friend's bday party and saw how sad the 'meat/meet' market really is and how lame the pick-up tactics are and am GLAD it is all over!

I totally agree! FH is the best thing that has ever happen to me. I love feeling comfortable in a relationship. I just wish we could start over sometimes. I love the beggining of relationships, it is so much fun. You are so in love, its sicking. It is a scary thing to feel like you will never be single again.

I was never a big partier, I never dated a lot, so being married isn't going to be too sad. I actually enjoy having someone there all the time now. But I can understand why it is kind of sad. It's closing a door on a part of your life you will never have again, but hopefully there will be other things that will take the place of those happy times.

I'm the same way. I was never really a party girl because FH and I met when I was 17 and he was 18. Any partying we did we did together. This was actually on the 7pm episode of Friends where Monica started freaking out because of all the 'firsts' she'd never have again with a guy. Don't be sad, imagine all the firsts you'll have as a family now.

not really. I am actually glad about it. I cannot wait to start the next phase of my life. i kind of take a 'been there, done that' kind of attitude. i actually hate going to bars now and feel like I do it b/c I am still young and have to. But every time I am out, I ask myself 'why am I out.' I guess I am a little lame, but I just prefer going out to dinner with my friends and their husbands.

I feel the same way! I am soooo happy the take the next step. I still go out with my friends but not the way we use to go out. It is so much better now

Me too. I don't miss the single life. I love having someone to come home to and being there when he comes home. And actually we were each others 'first' The only thing I don't like is the feeling I have because some of my buddies are no longer my buddies. They are single and living that life. It's different.

This was on a 'friend's' episode (re-run was just on last night!). Monica was upset about not having that 'new relationship' feeling anymore. she had a long talk with Chandler about it and realized that they would have all kinds of new 'firsts' to be excited about.

I was a big time partier when I was in college. Most of my friends and I are retired from the party scene now.

I feel a little sad but am looking forward to the next chapter of my life...

PLUS i still have my bachelorette parties to look forward to.

No, I couldn't be any happier. The single was getting real old.
