I am getting a little nervous b/c we have some people coming to the wedding who either have $$ or are influencial (e.g. work with famous people) I guess i just hope the wedding will live up to everyones expectations. esp since we are having a day wedding, i feel like i have been trying to make it more formal in other ways so that no one looks at our wedding as a casual thing (i want it to be more formal). I prob sound stupid, but i dont want to bring this up to the family, b/c they would tell me i am being ridiculous. anyway, thanks for hearing me out :)

You know what...i feel the same way. many of FH's family has never been to a NY wedding and ours will be their first! I feel they are expecting it to be this big hoopla of an event!! I hope it is!!

You wedding should be created and designed to meet you and FH's needs. Its going to be beautiful and perfect for the two of you and thats all that matters. I hope you dont stress about it too much although I do understand how you are feeling. Honestly tho - the most lavish weddings in the world have been 'for show' and the marriages have since fallen to pieces. Good luck!!

Bonnie - No need to be nervous!!! We had the same situation and everyone had a blast!!! People are still calling my dad raving about the wedding.

and Missy...your wedding really was awesome :) We had a great time, the band rocked, your flowers were unbelievable, and of course you were gorgeous (Nick even commented that your dress was beautiful LOL)...I am sure i am just being a little silly, but i am glad to know other people felt/feel the same way

Heck yea!!! My biggest thing is that my sister got married in'04 and after my mother had quite a lot to say . I'm afraid she will do all the same complaining etc about my wedding that she did about hers, to the point that the 'theme' of my wedding is: 'if my sister did it, I'm not doing it'. I have steered clear of ALL her vendors, I am getting married outside the hall instead of at the hall, doing a sand ceremony instead of unity candle etc. I'm making myself a little crazy trying to be different.

The people at my wedding who hadnt been to a NY wedding or a wedding as formal as ours were convinced we paid at least $100,000 for it at at least $250 a head. I nearly wet myself when I heard that. tell me how a widow on a fixed ncome can afford that. We did what we could to make our wedding as formal as possible within our families' means.
