Is anyone else stressing over the budget?

I'm just wondering is anyone is in the same boat as me. It's just hittng me now how much this wedding is costing and I'm starting to really freak out about it. FH is positive that everything will be ok, but i can't just hope for the best for the next 17 months! All I think about is all the $$$ that's gonna be due next year around this time and it's really scaring me because what if we don't have it? Maybe I'm just over-reacting but I'm just hoping for some of u to tell me this is normal and that it gets better...i hope

I feel the same way lately. Sometimes I think it will be ok and sometimes I don't think we will have the money because this year we are going to buy a condo/townhome. I am actually getting really nervous. I have been thinking about canceling my band that I am spending almost 6k for to a DJ to save some $$. Our wedding is hitting in very high number and I haven't even booked the florist,limos and honeymoon.

Tell you the truth, I rather put this $$ towards a house.

i was feeling the exact same way you are...me and FH were originally supposed to get married on 11/11/06, but due to the stress and finincial burden we postponed and downsized...we did it smart this time and i have to say its not as bad as it was originally...i still get stressed but its actually a lot more enjoyable, i realized that im not rockafeller so we shopped around a lot and are really sticking to our budget and are coming out $25-$30,000...just take a breath and a step back and look forward to getting married, thats the most important, if you really dont think you will have the money, downsize here and there...dont put yourself into big debt over it and get so stressed!

I started having chest pains right after we booked the RH! The money going in to this is insane. I'm starting to think we should have just eloped!!!

I know exactly how you feel, sometimes I start having a panic attack (which I have never gotten) just thinking about all the money we need. I keep thinking there is no way I am going to have it all. Then I think maybe we should just go to Vegas and spend the money on a house, but I would be so miserable if we did that....My FH actually has to calm me down and tell me it will all work out, but I still can't help stressing...

I'M ALREADY OVER MY BUDGET BY $16,000!!!!! THIS IS WHY I GET UP EVERY MORNING AND GO TO WORK.

Thanks girls...u really helped because atleast now I know I'm not the only one feeling this way. I guess it's because we're starting to book the major vendors now and when I look at those contracts and see all those $$$ and due dates it makes it seem a lot more real. I know we'll figure it out somehow and that in the end it'll be worth all the hard work we're going through to make it all possible. I just always thought wedding planning was gonna be a lot more fun and ALOT less stressful

Somehow it will all come together and we find the $$ for it.

I'm not only thinking if we dont have it I'm thinking about is it really worth it all these $$$ $$ for one day we have a lifetime ahead. I am stressed too

You're not alone. I was stressing out and FH kept telling me not to worry. Then I actually broke everything down for him, including honeymoon, any extras we've talked about, and all gratuities and I showed it to him. Well, he almost had a heart attack! So that's when we officially set a limit. We decided what extras are important to us and which ones aren't. We also put a cap on the guest list, despite what our parents say.

We've already increased our budget twice. We don't want to have to rely on gifts since that money will be used to buy a condo eventually. Luckily, we're still almost a year and a half away so we have plenty of time to save.

Just relax and stick to your plan! My FH and I made ourselves a strict monthly budget, and one bank account has been the wedding account. We don't touch that checkbook until it is time to book a vendor. We also decided to use our tax returns for what we call the wedding fund. It may seem like a lot of $ now, but the lifetime of memories from your dream wedding is so worth it!

we actually have the same plan. we recently put our savings into one account and we renamed our savings 'the wedding fund' and the only time we use the checkbook for that account is when we book vendors. also FH is responsible for paying the monthly payment to the hall and I'm repsonsible for depositing a set amount into the wedding fund. we're banking on the tax return money too...it'll def. help

at the moment i try not to think about it but thats why I made the date a year after i get out of school because who know where the moneys ging to come from
