that there RH or vendors will go out of businees by the time our wedding comes around?
I never really thought of this but the other day at work co-workers mentioned this to me and it made me nervous.

I think as long as you use a well-known, reputable vendor that has been in business for at least a few years, you'll be fine.

i did think about that. but we took that into consideration when we booked them. all of our vendors, including the RH are all big tim companies that have been around for many years and are very stable
but that was a concern of mine as we were looking

i was a little nervous to book things too early for that reason, but i do agree that if you are booking reputable halls/companies...you should be fine.

Nah ....... weddings are big business. As long as you use one that has a good reputation and are in business for awhile you should be good.
I am still looking and 2010 at most places I see a lot of people looking. So not too worried about it.

My brother brought that up to me when we first started looking for RH and vendors. So I made sure that everyone I booked have been around for a while and negotiated low down payments and the majority of my payoffs not starting till 1 year before the wedding.

I think about it sometimes just because a business has been reputable for a very long time doesn't mean they are immune to today's economy. I think no matter what you are taking a risk but for the most part I think everything will be okay. Like someone else said, weddings are a big business.

so true....this economy isn't stopping people from getting married...i feel like maybe people are scaling down or having longer engagements, but weddings won't stop...we should all be fine!

I have been really nervous about this. My best friends got engaged in 05 and married in 08. She had booked most of her vendors in 06. 3 of her vendors had gone out of business by her wedding and she lost everything.

I am not worried but FMIL keeps saying it!! I don't think she was too thrilled about the 2 year engagement - we would have the wedding tomorrow if it was up to her...or like yesterday! Oh, family, what a joy they are :P

My mom brings it up ALL THE TIME. Shush! My vendors have been in business forever... and SO many other people are booked with them... I'll just take it as it comes, but I'm not worried about it.
My mom saw that thing on the news where the girl didn't get her wedding pictures... and she thinks that'll happen to me... she's paranoid!

I am honestly not worried at all because we have only booked vendors that have been in business for a number of years and have come highly recommended!
