Is anyone from....

franklin square? we found a house there.... we got an accepted bid FH is from there originally but i dont know much about it... thoughts?

Yeah I think it is - no complaints the schools are good the HS is good. there is a lot around - store wise. Close to Parkways

Its a very nice town. We rent right now in Elmont but we're looking in the fs new hyde park area for a house. The school districts are good, close to SS parkway and Cross Island and lots of in-town stores. FH's uncle lives off of Fenworth which is off of dogwood closer to hempstead turnpike

I grew up in Elmont and worked in Franklin Square. Depending on where you are it can be very nice. Where I used to work, which was on Hempstead Tpke & Franklin Avenue, it was a very Italian neighborhood (not sure if it still is now). I believe the area around Dogwood was nice.

I went to high school in West Hempstead (my town didn't have a high school so we were bused 15 min away!) and so am pretty familiar with the area - I think it's a great area to settle down! As everyone said it is very convenient to the parkways and shopping, the schools are great (I went to a few of Carey's HS plays and they were waaaay better than ours) and it's a nice area for the most part.

I actually grew up in Fr Sq…and went to school with your FH (Hi Ken!)…and lived right around the block from him, actually. Ha!

I’d say the Fr Sq school district is good. The neighborhood is generally safe. And the neighbors are friendly and look out for each other. Even though I’m biased, I think the area you’re buying in (off Dogwood) is the better part of Fr Sq. Congrats on the house!!!

FH grew up in Franklin Square, off of Dogwood, his family loves it there and would never leave. When we were looking for a house, FH would only look in the areas around there, we bought a house in West Hempstead on close to the border of Franklin Square.

I grew up in Floral Park!!!!!!!! Carey's a good school, and this is coming from a FPM grad.

My sister lives in FS, on Catherine off of Hempstead. The houses are small, but cute.

i live in Franklin Square ... i love it ... good schools ... now i teach in New Hyde Park and i like it there too. (i live closer to elmont and you can see a difference when you get closer to elmont ... it has more of a queens feel ... but thats because elmont is on the nassau/queens boarder) anyway, FM me if you have any questions!
