Is anyone getting married at Windows on the Lake?*NM *NM*

I'm not getting married there (or anywhere at this point! :), but I was going to check it out. A co-worker's brother is getting married there, and they seem to be very happy with the place. Have you looked at it yet? If so, do you know the price ranges yet for a Friday or Saturday night (I didn't want to ask my co-worker, it seemed a little too forward? Thanks a lot! If I hear more about it I'll let you know...

I am getting married at the Beach Club in September. They are owned by the same people who own Windows. All of my dealings with them have been excellent and I would recommend them to anyone.

We looked there about a year and half ago when we were choosing our reception site. They were second or third choice on our list. Seemed like a really nice place, and we had heard good things about them. I can remember thinking thaqt the rooms were a little bit small and that I didn't like the fact that multiple affairs would be catered at the same time. Also, the main rooms were very close together with little separation. Some places that cater multiple affairs have a pretty good distance between the rooms so your party really stays separated from others. From what I remember, this was not the case with Windows on the Lake. - Kim P.S. - we ultimately chose the Port Jefferson Country Club because we liked the water and atmosphere. As I recall Windows was only slightly less expensive than PJCC.

I just went to a wedding there Saturday. We had a great time however the room was a little small and awkward for some of the tables. Some people were in positions where you could not see the groom and bride. The food was good(not great, not bad). The male bathroom at least was extremely small. We only had one party there so we did not hear other music from the other parties. Nice place.

We went there when we were hunting for a place and we actually considered it. If I remember correctly they had one of those all inclusive deals that you just cant beat. As for the spot its definately nice to have Lake Ronkonkama right there...You will get some great pics. Yes, some of the rooms were small and there is more than one affair at a time...you have to decide for yourself if that matters to you....I have never tasted the food but I remember previous posts that didnt seem to favorable....ask them for a tasting before you book. One other thing that bothered my is the street that runs right in front of it....the cars seemed to be flying by at lightening speen and if you get married at their outdoor area...either in the gazebo or right by the lake, all this will be going on DURING your ceremony. I too was thinking about having my reception there, but between hearing negative feedback and reading the negative feedback on this website, I decided against it. Also, check out the Better Business Bureau. It states, This firm has received 2 complaint (s) in the last 36 months. 0 of those 2 complaint(s) were received in the last 12 months. Hope this helps! I have tasted the food there during a wedding. We were there to look at Windows (which was too big for our 75 person guest list)and there was a wedding going on. They brought us some of the food and it was excellent. We also went to Anthony's restaurant in Lake Ronkonkoma, which is owned by the same people. We wanted to check out the food more than once. Again everything was excellent. I know that there had been negative feedback on here regarding them, but I believe that was under a different owner and things have changed since then.

Okay, so noone is actually having their reception or wedding there... except me. LOL. I was hoping to chat with someone about it. I`m having my ceremony and reception there. The rooms aren`t huge, but they`ll work for 120-130 comfortably. They say they can hold 250, and that`s just crazy. The prices aren`t bad. We have a guarantee of 130, and it`s $85 a head with an additional 1/2hr for the viennese, which i liked cause i`m probably going to miss my cocktail hour because I`ll be taking pictures. So that was nice. Of course there`s tax and tip on top of that price. Thanks for all the feed back! If anyone books there say so!

I just got engaged a few weeks ago, so we've just started looking. I was actually considering Windows...I work in an elementary school in Smithtown, so I was going to swing by after work one day. May I ask when you're getting married? Do you know if they have an indoor chapel? Thanks!

I`m getting married Oct. 13th at 12 noon. They have that outdoor chapel, which is where we are having our ceremony. I was concerned about the cars and the street being right there like some of the other brides mentioned. I`d just recommend standing up there... my finace and I did that and we were like this is it. This is where we want the ceremony. You look right over the road at the lake, it`s really pretty. They have an indoor area to hold the ceremony. It`s okay. I`m personally not crazy about it. But it`ll do if it rains. Check it out. You may like it, you may not. The people have always been a pleasure, and I liked the coziness. I did find out yesterday that there will be another wedding there the same day. My ceremony starts at 12 and the reception ends at 6. The other wedding starts at 5:00. So they will only be inside the building for 1/2 hour will my party is going on. Some brides are worried about that. It doesn`t really matter to me.. something to consider. Let me know if you go, I`d like to hear what you think.

Thanks a lot for your information. The problem is that my fiance and I need to get married at the reception hall. And we are looking to get married December 2002! So an outdoor ceremony is just impossible. Now I wonder if it''''s worth my while to check it out. Be honest - what do you think? p.s. We''''re also on a pretty tight budget. We really can''''t go more than $70/head, and we''''re willing to do it on a Friday night or Sat. afternoon. You don`t want Windows then..

I wouldn`t bother checking them out if you have to have an indoor ceremony at the reception site. Their indoor accomodations are okay, but I don`t think you`re gonna love it. I hate saying that, because i dont` know you and you might love it. I love their outdoor site, so anything else to me isn`t the perfect site. But you might like it. I think the prices may go down on a friday, our wedding is a saturday afternoon and it`s $85 a head, but that`s with an additional viennese and intermezzo... they might fall in your price range.... it`s tough to say. You have plenty of time to check them out. It only takes a couple of minutes to walk in and look around. See if you like the looks of it... The nice thing is since you`re getting married in the winter, they have the lake to take pictures in front of, and if you have snow, oh it`ll be so pretty. Oh, maybe you should check them out...I'm not helping am I?

Thanks! Well, I work in Smithtown, so I will definitely look, it's only 5 min. from my job...As for Miller Place, I've heard of it, but I'm very new to Long Island, so I don't know where that is. Hi...i'm new to this site. my wedding is sept 1, 2002 and we booked windows. it is a sunday afternoon but the day before labor day so its like a saturday. we are doing the ceremony inside b/c it is still summery weather and i don't trust they'll get rid of the goose poop. we couldn't do the gazebo b/c my dad is handicapped and the ramp will be too steep for him to climb up. i like the inside b/c they can remove all of the windows in the room. one of the main reasons we took the place is the room for the cocktail hour seats 180 ppl. it was important to us that every guest be able to sit. i love the main room with the ceiling painted like the sky. we're having about 170ppl, we only had to guarantee 140 (minimum to get the main room). they gave us a price of 72.95, which i think was reasonable. we're considering taking the package, although reading some posts about the photographers (ADA) i'm a little wary. i'm not sure who originally made this post but have you thought about the package? have you gone to a showcase at windows yet? when i was there frank didn't have the date for the next one yet. the photos i saw there seemed very nice. we're on a budget so the package seems like a sweet deal...

Windows on the Lake

I have been to the showcase at Windows, although I am getting married at The Beach Club. They are both owned by the same people. I can tell you that all of my dealings with them have been easy and I am not in the least bit worried about using them. I decided not to take a package because I wanted my choice in vendors and because we are having a smaller wedding (75 guests) so we didn't need as much as the package covers. Good luck whichever way you go.

Windows on the Lake- punkykat

Hi, i originally made this post, finally someone else getting married and having their reception at windows! We went to the showcase and decided against the package for a couple of reasons. 1-I`ve heard nothing but bad things about the DJ. I think his name is franky....and everyone i talked to said he talks to much and trys to steal all the attention during the reception. The other reason was I don`t like James Cress florist. We met Mr. Cress, and he totally turned me off. I think ADA had nice picutres, but a friend of mine recommended a different photographer. We met the people at ADA and i thought their prices were high, and I wasn`t crazy about their wedding album style. The package is a great price, so it`s just a matter of how the venders make you feel. I wanted to walk away from a vendor feeling comfortable and confident, and I didn`t get that from the package vendors.... you might though, it`s really a personal thing. I go next month to pick out the linens and cake and menu... I can`t wait!!
