I picked Friday because I wanted to have the ceremony in the late afternoon and I want the ceremony at night. We are night people.
Anyway, Saturday nights were just too expensive for us, so I picked Friday night. But now I am concerned about my guests, do you think they might miss the ceremony that we scheduled for 4:00? Is anyone else having second thoughts?

I am also getting married on a Friday for the same reasons. The priest at my church is marrying us at 6:00. I wouldn't worry....I'm sure your family & close friends will make it to the church. The priest that is marrying us at 6:00 is doing us a favor but I am very nervous becasue he has a very thick hasian accent. I hope we can understand him.

I am having a Friday wedding. Ceremony at 3:30 and cocktail hour at 7. I am fine with there being less people at the church. The reception should be perfect timing.
People are used to Friday weddings and they will have a great time!

I am having a friday night! The people who love you will be there and that is all that counts. I have alot of family coming from out of town and having our wedding on a Friday which leaves my guest with Saturday and Sunday for sightseeing!

I ma getting married on a Friday. My ceremony starts at 6:30 my cocktail starts at 7:00 ( wwe are getting married at hall) and reception starts at 8:00 and will end at 12:00

Me too - our hours are the same as curly's. I think Friday's are just as good as any other day - my FH had a problem with it in the beginning...but after we did our guest list, we realized we weren't going to make the Sat night min - and having a more intimate wedding (~130) was more important to us than a Sat night wedding.

me too! sat nights are always more expensive....one of the reasons i wanted fri was for that. but at my place, even the sat night would have been reaonable. for some reason, i just like th idea of a fri night wedding. and people will prob use it as a good excuse to cut out of work early...and they still have their saturday night to go out or recupurate!

Does anyone else get any rude comments about having a wedding on a Friday Night to save money? The way some people bring it up is just so rude!! But, I am totally okay with having our wedding on a Friday! Not that it matters, but we were trying for a Saturday at the Fox Hollow and because we had a somewhat short engagement their Saturdays were booked til I don't know when. I figured that if half my guests are from out of town and they will be requesting at least 4 days off from work, then there is really no difference on which day to have it!

danigirl0, I totally agree! Then our guests and us can celebrate and know we have the weekend to recupurate.

Me too! I had some reservations about having it on a Friday night, and my reception is from 8:30 - 1:30 a.m., but I figured people are coming to party, so they will hopefully enjoy themselves with the late hour.

to be honest, i would think that a 4:00 ceremony would be too early. most people do not get off work until 5:00, but you should do what you want to. the people that are going to want to be there will be there.

We had a 12:30 ceremony and almost everyone was there...I think the people who care about you will be there regardless of the time. This is your day..who cares how many guests come to the church anyway...During the ceremony the only people I even noticed was my DH and my parents...Do what's best for you and your FH!

I am also having a friday wedding. We have given the guests over a years notice..if they cant work it out to get there with that much notice, then I dont really wnat them at my wedding anyway.( It obviosuly isnt a priority to them if they cant make it. ) thats how I see it.

We are having about 1/2 the guests coming from Ireland (if they can make it) so some are coming on that Sunday before and some are coming that Thursday before. I hope my 'USA' friends come to the ceremony. It's at 5pm - am I not worth at least taking half a day, if not the whole day off to come to the wedding?!? You are too, and anyone that realizes that will be there!!!

We got married on a Friday. It wasn't the norm then. Our banquet manager told us he could give us everything we wanted on the Saturday for $7,000 more--we took the Friday. It worked out perfectly. Our ceremony was scheduled for 4:30 PM. Our cocktail hour was from 7 - 8 and the 'party' was from 8 - 1. It was a blast.
The one downside might be less people at the ceremony (work, etc.).
You'll have a wonderful time either way.

None!!! We are getting married the Friday before Columbus Day... Cant Wait!!! Good Luck! Worst case scenario, not everyone comes to the church.. I dont know how your families are but 98%of ours is taking off from work.. I hope they all fit!!! LOL... Good Luck!!
