I just don't get it! I mean, I get it. You're becoming one unit and yada yada yada. But it's my name! My identity all my life.
I love my name! And my FH will be really insulted if I didn't change it (although I don't see how that's fair).
so frustrating!

That's same thing that I feel...I love my last name and really not feeling like changing my last name. But like your FH, mines would be crushed...

I don't really have a problem changing it but I like my last name better lol.
I'm going from Ashley St. Clair to Ashley Tarricone.
I told him Nicholas St. Clair sounds better but it didn't fly lol.

I'm in the same boat. FH's last name is Smith I feel like being Mrs Smith is so generic. Plus my last name is MY name, why should I change it? FH wants me to hyphenate, but I'd rather just keep mine. I'm guessing in the end he will win this battle

I LOVE my last name, but love the idea of taking his. plus he has a pretty cool last name.. my only issue is professionally. i will probably hyphenate for professional purposes and use his name personally

as a hockey fan thats a cool change lol... CCM makes hockey equipment
My opinion on the name change... i promise you (not you chreesta) that you will not lose your identity if you have a new last name... you'll still be the same person... if you want to hold on to it for other reasons than thats different...

it.
Our 1st anniversary may roll around and it may, or
may not be changed LOL
he wants to me change it, I will....but i'm in no rush to
process all the paperwork!

it doesn't bother me...i mean even though I've been one person my whole life, after we get married I will essentially be a new person....I will be a wife with my own family to start as well as being part of my other family.
in fact I'm excited...it makes us an official family!
plus i wouldnt want my kids to have a hypehnated name or different name

I 100% have no problem changing my last name. I'll finally have a name people can pronounce properly! LOL
I'm going from Jessie Iurato (let's see you all pronounce that properly if you're not italian) to Jessie O'Connor.
It's also important for when we have kids for all of us to have the same last name. True I could hypenate but who the hell wants to write all of that out! LOL

Nope, no issue changing my name. My name is not who I am, I will still be the same person regardless of name. Do I like my last name, sure. I like the way it sounds as a name in general, but I don't have to have it. We are looking into ways of maybe having it as a girls name for one of our kids. We'll see.
Now I'm saying this 8 months before the wedding. Talk to me when I'm an emotion wreck from all the planning, stress, family stuff, etc etc. I may feel different.
