Mine wants to wear a pant suit... Is it wrong for me to not want her too?

Re: Is anyone having a problem
No...FMIL is great and I love her ideas. If she wanted to wear a pant suit or something that would make her more comfy I would 'allow' it.... as long as it fits in with the dressiness of the day let her go with it. You can always make something like a pant suit more dressy with accessories.

I didn't even discuss that with her yet....sorta scared to... She's a strict Irish woman...even my FH is scared of her. Soo...I may just let her wear whatever the hell she wants! HA

Re: Is anyone having a problem
I know- but I guess I feel like some of the suits that she has looked look like they are for a party. They are not dressy at all. I get the sense that she does not want to have her hair or make up done....
My mother on the other is like- this is my last chance to look like a diva -so lets go for it.
I just want them to look equally as lovely....
Any suggestions for MOB dress sites/stores?

If that is what your FMIL wants to wear ... then let her wear it .... They are funny like that .

Re: Is anyone having a problem
Fh's mom mentioned to me that she'd be more comfortable in a pantsuit.. at first I was like noo I want you to wear a dress and feel really pretty but actually when it comes down to it , she's going to look pretty regardless, I want her to be comfortable and up on the dance floor dancing..because she LOVES to dance..
Some of the pantsuites now-a-days are actually pretty nice...

I think my mother would rather wear a pantsuit, but I won't allow it. She never wears a dress or anything remotely dressy ever, so she can deal for one night lol.

Yes. My FMIL wanted to have a pants suit too. Both FH & I both told her no. But I told her to give me the photo of the pants suit she wanted to see if a seamstress could make the same top she liked with a dress/skirt bottom. She liked that idea so thats what we're working on.

Nope...my FMIL is soooo classy that I am 10000% sure she will pick something elegant and appropriate. There are beautiful, flowy pantsuits out there...I wouldn't mind it.

FMIL is so sensitive of my wishes. she's amazing. sorry yours is being difficult don't think it's out of line to ask her to wear a dress. you may want to have FH do the talking tho.
if it makes you feel better, i went to a wedding on saturday where the MOG was wearing white--not ivory, not gold, not champagne.
bright, pure, white!

My FMIL wants me to go shopping with her as she wants my advice on helping deciede what to wear! I think it will be fun!
As long as the pantsuit is dressy it could look really nice!

My FMIL got a gorgeous dress. The only I problem I had was that she got the dress before my Mom. IMO that is bad ettiquette.

Re: Is anyone having a problem
I feel like I'm such an uncaring bride I wasn't planning on asking her - I think FH would care more than I do. As dressy as I'd like everyone to be, I just want them to be comfy without looking like schleps. I guess the only ones I'm imposing my wishes on are my BMs and possibly my mom just a lil bit - otherwise I don't care much. But I know I'm NOT in the norm!

no, I would prefer that she wear a dress too, but I wouldnt force it if I were you, I would have your FH talk to her about it

Re: Is anyone having a problem
i think that you shoudl let her wear whatver she feels ocmfortable in. i am assuming that you do not think a pant suit is dressy enough but i really woudl not even worry about it bc all it comes down to is one picture that is in your albulm

Not at all! I think you have an opinion as to what is worn. A pants suit isn't appropriate for FMIL to wear JMO. My FMIL thinks that she has time to get a dress. The wedding in 4 1/2 months away!
ETA: maybe she can get a pantsuit that looks like a dress? I believe chadwick's has something like that.chadwick's
