Is anyone having (or had) an hour and a half Cocktail Hour?
Just was wondering if anyone did this and how it worked out, positive or negative.

i am not, but it sounds like a great idea.... i think everyone i have ever spoken to thinks that the cocktail hour is the best part!!!

My FBIL&SIL did. They had their ceremony at the hall, so they were able to add a 1/2 hr onto the CH, so they did not miss too much when they had to take pics after the ceremony. They were married at Chateau Briand May '04

I did this at the Thatched Cottage and it was great!! It gave us more time to do pictures, and we had time to mingle and eat some CH food!!

We just did this at our 6/18 wedding at the Bourne Mansion. It was great, and the guests enjoyed it too. I would recommend if you think you will have a nice CH with a decent amount of space for people to mingle. It was great for us to finish up pictures. We were at the CH for 1 hour.

We are having an hour and a 1/2. 8 - 9:30 Figure we can get all the 'hello's' out of the way so we can enjoy the rest of the night. Plus gives extra time for the pics to be taken before hand! JMO!! I'm glad we're doing it!!

Same here. I am getting married at the Chateau Briand on 8/20. We extended our cocktail hour by 1/2 hour too so that we could enjoy some of it after picture taking at the Old Westbury Gardens.

I am doing it. I havent heard anything bad about it yet, and it works out for the people who show up a little later - they don't really have to miss anything!

I don't think my place is adding $$, but the reception will be shorter now, like 3 1/2 hours.
Did anyone else have this? Or did you pay extra for the half hour at CH?

We thought about doing this because we didn't want to miss our CH taking pictures. Our hall told us it would be an extra $9 a person to do this. Plus we would have to pay our DJ and Photographer extra because our reception would end a half hour later.

i added an hour to the wedding. i had an extra half hour to the cocktail hour and an extra half hour to the end. It was wonderful and worked out very well. It aloud me to kind of relax with my girls in the bridal suite and go see the room reception room decorated and talk to the dj. Then it still left me with almost 45 minutes to go into the cocktail room and say hello to everyone. I loved it.

Our Wedding at the Fox Hollow, and our CH is from 7pm - 8:30 p.m....1.5 hours!

Can anyone give an idea of approx. how much the extra 1/2 is costing you? Thanks, I think I'll inquire with my hall and my DJ about it.
