I didn't but I knew he had another wedding right after mine.

Re: Is anyone inviting ...
it is considered 'proper etiquette' to do so, since many officiants are from a familys' church and know the family, etc.We invited ours because we had flown him and his wife out from California to perform our ceremony. They also came to the RD

Re: Is anyone inviting ...
I didn't invite him, only because I knew he would not be able to attend. Its the church's 'name day' the day after our wedding (Greek Orthodox church) and he already had mentioned that there will be too much going on that afternoon/evening for him to be able to attend our reception.
I do hope he can attend the Rehearsal Dinner, though .. he is such an amazing, cool guy. And we will be the last couple he marries at this parish, because he is moving to Boston the week after our wedding

Re: Is anyone inviting ...
I was told it was proper etiquette.
So yes, he's invited. Him & his wife. Besides I have three good reasons.
1. Even though he's not my priest/preacher I still think it's rude to say 'Thanks for the sermon, you can leave now' But really that's just me, Im werid like that. I honestly don't even know the guy other than the first time we met.
2. I am only paying him $200. Pretty cheap. I guess I can afford to feed him and his wife.
3. (and most importantly) I have tons of open seats!! LOL

We didnt invite him. We had a conversation about it...he told us he would be honored to attend but he knew how costly it is and that we shouldnt invite him.
He stayed through the cocktail hour though.

Lisa, Are you close with him? Will you actually send out invitations? Is it convenient for him?

Personally I'd like him to say a prayer before dinner.

We a kind of close so that is why he is coming from the diocese to perform my wedding. I created RD invites and I will be mailing him one of those and a wedding invitation.

You are woman of strong morals Veronica. . .
Yes, I am going to. We are getting married at a very small church where everyone socailizes, ( very 7th Heaven) so I have a feeling she might come, but she is always triple booked, so she might not.
I just wouldn't know where to seat her if she did come. . .

I did. But he didn't want to come.
He knows my family, but I would have invited any officiant no matter how well I knew him. I think it's standard to do so.

With one of the head tables, I think. Like at your family's or your FH's family's table.

If my priest comes to my reception, I am putting him at my first table with my parents.
