Is anyone making/decorating their own unity candle?
I've looked and looked at several unity candles and I just can't seem to find any I really like. Is anyone making their own, rather are you decorating your own? How do you do it?? Is their special glue? I appreciate any help from the crafty brides out there.

I also don't like the normal unity candles, and i am planning to make my own, but right now I haven't figured out how to do it. When I do find out I will definitly let you know.

I am making my own
2 tapered candles and one fat one I am copying something I saw where the only decoration was a simple white ribbon around the middle. it wasn't tied like a bow, instead it was looped and met in the middle. I am going to use a regular glu gun...but i bought extra candles to test the time. I don't think the candle will be lit long enough to reach the glued ribbon

I am making my own as well. I bought two ivory tapers and one large ivory candle. I also bought delicate little appliques (thin lace with a pearl) to wrap all three.
The woman at the store suggested that very small pins could be used to affix the material to the candles. They do not show through (even on the tapers).
I bought all of the supplies at Patchogue Fantasyland.

Me too, Len and I both have a hard time finding one we both like so here I go again...........
Re: Is anyone making/decorating their own unity candle?
I did not have one...but the night before my sisters wedding she decided she wanted one...
so the next morning I went to Michaels and didn't like the normal UCs...so I bought beautiful brass stands and plain white taper and pillar candles...I wanted to get purple - sis's fave color- but her MIL said they had to be white...so I wrapped a purple ribbon around the pillar...

did you search ebay? they have some nice ones. I bought the Lenox one off Ebay & got a great price
Re: Is anyone making/decorating their own unity candle?
i wish i could, but the unity candle isn't a part of the greek wedding ceremony.... something i'm quite bummed about!
but on the upside - there are a lot of things involved in the ceremony that i think are really cool that aren't in other ceremonies!

I have the same Lenox one too. It was inexpensive on EBAy. I will add some beading to it...nothing too much

I think there are pins that you can stick in the candle that have pearl-like tops, if you like that type of candle design
