following the standard tipping protocol and going lower than what is suggested on these boards?

I went a little lower on a few things than some of the girls, since we did not have a 5-6 hour reception (we had 4)....so we went a tad lower on DJ etc

I agree. The only tip I forsee giving less than what is suggested is the tip for the maitre d. I think we're going to give a set tip, and only if they were phenomenal, we'll give more after the fact.

I think I'm not quite the norm...theres a few vendors that have been sub-par up to now, so I can't digest tipping them 20% on their insane prices

my DOC had let me know that i shouldn't tip anyone higher than $150

i gave my florist $100
my DOC $100
my photographer $150
photog assistant $75
videographer $150
BM @ RH $200
RH tip was already included in our price so they told us what it was, can't remember what it is now)
Limo $50 per driver
did not tip our band since they are family owned and we paid more than $9K for them and didn't feel they needed extra.
don't know if i forgot anyone now...

I am doing the same. Consdering everyone has a different budget, I think it is unreasonable that we all tip the same. Several of my family and friends outside of LI have an ENTIRELY different idea of how to tip. And thats people within NYC.
