I am trying to cut down on costs somewhere and it would save me $250 not to do flowers in the church. I could cut another $60 if I get rid of the pew bows (but I like them - $10 a bow). Will it look too bare? Is anyone else not doing any decorating in the church?

Honestly, it all depends on you. I thought about eliminating the decorations for the church, because I mean we are only going to be in there for ½hr.... but that's the staging area for it all for me. It's where we marry, and I want it to look wedding-ish.
If you want to cut back on costs, just keep the bows, and if anything, buy baby's breath, and have someone decorate it for you.

I am not decorating the church with flowers. I had no desire to. Churches are beautiful for what they are...I didn't think anything additional was necessary.

I am only having pew bows and one altar piece. It really is not costing me that much so that is why I decided to it.

We did flowers but the church was beautiful to begin with. So you can if you like. I dont remember our flowers to tell you the truth

Ditto for me...I really don't care to add flowers and whatnot to the church, and it's one less thing to deal with.

You could skip it- if you need to save $. Whether or not it is noticed propbably depends on the church. If it is ornate, flowers will be lost anyway.
I like pew pows. I think they make the church look dressed up for a special occasion. Iw net to a weddign that didnt'have them & while the church was pretty, it didn't seem 'special'. You also don't have to do every row. You can do the first 2 or every other.

Re: Is Anyone NOT doing flowers in the church?
I like posting pictures, so here is a picture of my church. It think it needs a little fancying up--the plants won't be on the Alter because that is just for Easter.
I'm contracted for ceremeny flowers...but we have since changed plans and moved from the reception hall to a church. The church is absolutely gorgeous on its own and I don't want anything else added to it - no flowers, no pew bows. Nothing. LOL
I'm not doing flowers in the church. I am either going to make my own pew bows or get them off of Ebay. I saw 6-8 nice ones on Ebay for $15. The only thing I am concerned about is the runner down the aisle.

I'm not decorating the church at all. I'm trying to save some $$$, and we felt that the church is so big, we'd have to decorate it a lot to be noticeable. It's a very pretty church as it.

Maybe this is a crazy idea on my part, but I was thinking that if I have $$ near the day of, I might make a few pew buckets or cones and then fill them with roses from the supermarket that we pick up that day. It would be a lot less $$ than having something similart from the florist. Otherwise, I am not going to have any flowers at the church.

Re: Is Anyone NOT doing flowers in the church?
We are having only pew bows...We are not having a mass so the wedding ceremony will be short and I think it would be a waste of money spent elsewhere... Also Im getting married during Lent, so Im limited to the flowers anyway because its not apporpriate...

I'm not doing flowers in the church either, also to save money. My FMIL is making my pew bows and that's all I'll have.

What is your concern abotu the runner? where to get one? Or if your church allows it ( most do, some don't.) or if you can afford it?
Are you getting a limo? Sometimes they throw it in or you can request it from them- not sure how much it would cost if its not part of your package.
Whiel a runner isn't neccessary, it does make the church look more 'bridal', so if you just have pew bows & a runner if will still look decorated.

Ohhhh I thought the florist brought the runner. Thats what my mom said happened at her wedding (but that was YEARS ago). So I was worried that if I didnt have a florist at the church then there would be no runner. It is allowed there and my parents are covering the church costs.
