Is anyone not doing parent dances at all?

We just decided to skip them. I don;t have a dad (and I'd rather not use a substitute) and FH is not that close with his mom anymore, so we're just going to skip it,,,,anyone else?

(I'm a little worried FMIL will have a shitfit and demand it at the reception...)

i am in the same situation! i would like to skip them all together. fh hates dancing and having the focus on him, so he doesn't mind skipping them either! i don't have a father to dance with, and while i have 5 brothers (3 of which will be attending) i am simply not that close with them and don't care to do the dances with them either. his mom got upset when i threw out the idea of skipping them, but she'll have to deal with it. we told her she can still dance with him, but i don't want to clear the dance floor for it. our first dance we will dance alone for like 30 secs and then the dj will invite our bp and then everyone else to dance with us. after that, i want to keep people on the dance floor (which will be difficult to do bc they will be checking out the aquarium as well). there's nothing wrong with skipping them! ~lacey

That's a good idea.; She can dance with him, but not clear the dance floor, make a big thing out of it... That's a great idea. Love it.

For me, the situation with ym dad is really painful, and I can;t stand to even watch parent dances of any kind, at any wedding (I found that out over the summer ) so I really am relieved that FH doesn't mind skipping it. I didn;t want a scene with his mom (Iwho loves being the center of attention), but that's a good compromise.
